This collection just for Stig as I keep promising to stop and take photos. Well Tuesday this week I did! Nice to see the trees in bud and blossom coming out at last.
Neighbouring village:

Another neighbouring village. Sadly the pub is closed ATM and has been for over a year following a fire in the kitchen which spread to the thatch!

Weather on Tuesday (like yesterday and today) was absolutely perfect riding weather, not too hot not too cold. We're in the Goldilocks zone!

Great pics Neil!
Looks like England is supposed to look!
Your roads look smooth and well-kept.
Oooph, a fire under the thatch. Surprised anything remains.
The red object is a mail box?...a bench and a paved path. Nice. Bench for bus riders?
Thanks for taking the trouble to share your part of the world with us!
Keep 'em coming!

Yep Stig, the red thing is a post (mail) box, but not a bus route so the bench is provided just to sit a while. The Parish Council I serve on has provided a dozen such benches in our Village.
Roads? Don’t get me started, this was a lucky batch of photos as most local roads are peppered with horrible potholes. You need to be constantly on the alert to avoid ‘em!
-
Neil, great pics. I was curious if you also call them 'potholes', like we do, so I did a little googling on potholes in Britian. Apparently potholes are a big problem in your neck of the woods..lots of online info talking about them. Your climate, being so wet and cold in the Winter, contributes to their formation.
Save your tires, avoid those holes!

Dead right Hawk, they're the bane of the motorists' life here, well, that and the taxation of the motorist! Soft target for the Govt.
Last time I visited Scotland however, I was well impressed with the good quality of their roads.

Neil,
Beautiful pics. I have driven in the English countryside outside of Sheffield, near the Chatsworth Estate. I want to do the lake region one of these days.
Dean
-
Dean, there you have a couple of great areas for beautiful countryside! As you leave Sheffield for the High Peaks there are some terrific biking roads including a stunner called the Snake Pass. When I rode up to Yorkshire on my X-Town 300 a couple of years ago I went that way to avoid the motorways! I'm about an hour from the Lake District the "other side" in the Wars of the Roses, a little unpleasantness we had here a few hundred years ago. (The House of Lancaster vs the House of York)

Mail delivered daily, or?
I think Holmes used get a morning and an evening post?
(we used to have a morning newspaper and an evening paper. Now we get one paper from neighboring Dayton. The old Springfield News/Sun is perhaps our best looking abandoned building.)

Deliveries once daily Mon-Sat Stig. Collections from the red pillar boxes once daily rurally, but more often in heavily populated areas.
Newspapers here are in a death spiral with everything going on line. Local rag is an evening paper the Sentinel which I have never bought on principle. Even one of our national dailies, the Independent is now only available in its on line iteration!
