Title: Oh man. 4 Scooters?!
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on July 07, 2024, 07:41:33 PM

2010 Burgman 400 which has sat for 2 years after the old fellow died. He had it serviced every season.
Being offered to me via my daughter - who found it in the ladies garage, and asked about it. Lady wants to sell it. asking $2500. Lady likes the idea that I am a senior and own scooters and would appreciate it.

Having my daughter (her crew painting the woman's house) will check on mileage and if it starts - is that battery tender plugged in?!
I'm not interested in getting a scooter back on the road - but if it just needs some freshening - that's a different story. I did like my 2014 Burgman - great headlights for my night riding - and smooth as a Buick over crap roads!

BTW: still encouraging Joe to keep his Reflex. It has a "sometimes" fuel pump - Reflex common problem and defied him for 3 yrs now. Not an issue for him from 5 blocks away. Me? Too old to push it miles back to Springfield on a 20°F pre-dawn! Sorry - I need bullet proof!

My days of crawling around on the garage floor sorting a "problem" scooter - passed 10 yrs ago. Clean them, wax them, service them, no problem. I'm not Hawk! I tend to fall asleep out there on the floor......if oil takes too long to empty.

Interesting looking Burgman!

wow, another nice scoot!  When it rains it pours. Someone is sending a sign that our Stig needs to adopt another scooter....now whch one will it be?

I bet the difference in ride quality, like you mentioned, will be night and day from your smaller scoots. That Burgman looks like it floats along. Able to carry a pillion and at freeway speeds, if desired!

If we're opening a book, my money's on the BurgerVan, less to do to bring it up to Monsieur Le Stig's standards!

we are still eagerly awaiting a decision from Stig on which of the available scoots he will adopt and take home with him??

I was in Y.S. this morning and spoke with the owner of the Reflex in Dino's.
I and another long-time member of the "Dawn Patrol @ Dino's" * are encouraging Joe to keep his old Honda, even if he rides it only half a dozen times a year. We're both concerned about "seller's remorse" down the road.
No hurry - this year or next - won't make any difference to the scooter if it changes hands.

And still awaiting my daughter's further investigation of the Burgman. Is it going in for service one last time? (as the owner claims) ...if it does then certainly it's probably a good running scooter!

Stig

 * I told Joe that Ed and I could roll it out of his storage - although we'd probably drop it a couple of times! - if that would be of any help to him?!

I bet the Burgman would clean and shine up nicely. Curious about the miles...and good to hear it's been dealer serviced, annually. Taking one of those to a dealer can't be cheap...so it should mean the owner cared enough to spend some good money maintaining his scoot.
