Title: GV touring seat

My 2009 GV came with the upgraded touring seat as well as the standard seat.  On long rides, my legs could not straighten out and would cramp.  I put the standard seat on and it was much the same.  I took the touring seat to a motorcycle re-upulsterer and had him cut 2 inches off the backrest and 1 inch off the height and re-cover it all in leather.  It cost $200 but well worth it.  I can now ride for 10 to 12 hours and not cramp up plus I can plant my full foot when stopped.  (30 inch inseams). Hope this helps all of you that are not satisfied with your seat.

My standard seat was broken into and the latch on the underside was broken off and is gone.
Would you consider selling the regular seat or the latch?

After a year of riding my GV the seat seems to be getting more comfortable or I'm just getting more conditioned. It seems I would choose to add some height to the seat and move the seat back back a little. to un cramp my 6''1 height. How did you decide on the changes you made or did you leave it up to the shop?

The choices were simple; two inches off back got it to the support post and I took one inch off the height because any more would affect seat "comfort".  You can shave the front of the seat a bit narrower if you need it even lower.  By the way, the back support ends up being squared off instead of the rounded support that it starts out with.  I prefer it this way, it gives me just a smidge of wiggle room.

Can you post some pictures of your upgraded seat?? I have removed my back rest from the standard seat for some more room. I am interested in the touring seat for more comfort. Is the only difference a lumbar backrest??
Any help will be great.
