"$895 that includes oil, filter, drain and replace transmission fluid, coolant flush, inspect/adjust valves, bleed brakes, replace brake fluid, new spark plug, new air filter. update mapping for ecu. We may have to replace the belt and rollers, but we would need to inspect them in order to determine if that's the case, that would be an additional cost.
Replacing the front tire including labor would be $375
Replacing the rear tire including labor would be $475. We would also have to replace the bushing in the exhaust collar as well, that is $95. if the clamp has to be replaced that is $45."
And add $195 for it to be delivered back ......."
Saw this on the Vespa forum. It's in the USA someplace.

Owning a scooter to save gas.
$895 + $375 + $475 + $95 + $45 + belt and rollers + delivery of $195 = !

Prices are not nearly that high around here but they are still pretty high.
Owning a scooter is only economical if you do your own service. The only thing I have done by dealers is mounting tires and I take off my wheels and bring them in.

and I thought my local tire mounting prices were high...those are ridiculous! I was watching a few youtube vids last night on changing your own tires..it kind of has me thinking about giving it a try..or maybe not...I don't know..

I just read an article about Seattle having highest grocery prices, they also have a $19.97 minimum wage.
I better stop while I'm ahead, hard to not get political on this subject

And that ,young Stig, is why scooters are so popular in Europe. Those sort of workshop prices just wouldn't be tolerated. A scooter this side of the water is still economical transport. Less so than it was, but still affordable.

Might be best to just ride it until it breaks and buy a new one.

When I stopped thumbing around and got a real job & married in California, I was making $1.60 an hour.
I just turned 19 and my wife just turned 18. We paid $8 a week for room and board in a commune over a Mexican restaurant and an Orange Julius (remember those?) GREAT smells from both!

In high SChool, I worked an evening job 3:30-11:30 $1.60/hr on a cleanup crew at a feta cheese factory. I grew up in rural northern Vermont, the only restaurant in town was a summer only creamee stand. Things are much different since I left back in 1970
