We have a forecast overnight low of -7C tonight.  Positively tropical compared to Iowa!

It went down to 4F here in Alabama last night.  Our roads are all covered with ice.  It may be days before they are cleared as we don't have a lot of snow removal equipment.  We basically have to wait for it to melt and that may not happen until next week.  In the 10+ years I have been in Alabama this has never happened.  Normally we get snow, everything closes and the roads are clear in a day or 2 max.  This will also be the longest I haven't ridden in a long time.

I remember the blizzard of '93, my parents were travelling from their winter home in Az, to summer home in VT, and got stranded in MS waiting for a foot or so of snow to melt, meanwhile in NH, I had 50" snow, and was out and about my normal business with no interruption

It got up to 36F here today so I went for a ride.  There was still ice in the shade.

we had a heat wave too, made it up to 27°, it was forecast to be in the teens

my driveway is on a northeast facing slope, it can be in bright sunlight above freezing and still solid ice

mine is on a South facing slope...if I get the snow cleared off before anyone drives on it, I'm in great shape...if it gets driven on, prior to clearing, and the tire tracks become solid ice...I'm in trouble and can't get in my garage..

7.5C here this morning so I took the DTX out for a spin despite the 50mph wing gusts.  We had 90-100 mph gusts last night and it made sleeping a problem.

Good to be back in the saddle after a good few days off owing to sub zero (C) temps.

100mph gusts!!?!
Did you swap roofs with your neighbors?
I once saw myself in my mirror while going 35mph into a 40mph gust of wind.
Reminded me of Howdy Doody.
