"they built my scooter around the #$%^@ spark plug!."
I've thought that plenty of times. Last time it was my LIKE's coil.
My new complaint is,
"they built my house around the @#$% water heater!"
Fun with appliances week, here.
Furnace needed a health check....and, I let my wife talk me into a new water heater.
Couple of nice guys, who knew their business came out yesterday and, looking at my water heater, said to one another,
"The furnace boys didn't do us any favors did they Dave!"
He measured the new, and the old tank, and the available clearances after I removed the door.
"Good news is the new one will fit."
'Well, that's something.'
"The old one - well we gotta find 3/4s of an inch."
'You guys want some coffee?'
"No thanks - we got another stop yet in Dayton. Time is money."
2.5 hrs later they finished up and rode off in their handsome Mercedes van!
I watched it like a football game, w/2 coffees. Saving water - just in cases - I peed in the shrubs out back.
Still no idea how they got it out of there!

This morning I peeked in the shower.
My wife, "what are you doing?"
"Just checking you have nice hot water."
"Sure you are..."

Don’t talk to me about plumbing Stig! We’re having a mare currently with our downstairs WC. Wife says the old one’s got to go! (It is 40+ years old!). Panelling out to expose pipe work revealing a nasty leak. Hope the plumber likes a challenge!

I took out a perfectly good tank 40 years ago and put in on demand (LP) the old one was electric with a separate meter, based on 40 year old rates, I've saved $50k in water heating costs over the past 40 years

Remember when they used to promote - "This house is All-Electric!".....imagine what that would be like today!

My daughter discovered that the drain in her bathroom sink was leaking....at 1AM.
"drains" I don't mind tackling.
The metal piping used decades ago are destined to fail!
For $30 in PVC and drain kit from Lowes I had it fixed.
OK, so I needed help getting back up......
Leak in the wall.....?
Best go away for the day - leave him to it. Ouch!

Remember when they used to promote - "This house is All-Electric!".....imagine what that would be like today!

funny...my house IS all electric! It was built 20 years ago and the heating/cooling system is geothermal (long loops of liquid filled tubing run 6 ft underground to use constant ground temp to help with heat/cool). Electric water heater, too. No gas line run to the house. Good that I don't have to worry about carbon monoxide but bad if I ever wanted a gas fireplace or permanent outside generator hooked up to natural gas.

The electric pricing in your area must be very much better than in my area!
My gas level billing runs $1.40 a day. (furnace & water)

We have 2 electric meters, one for our geothermal unit and 1 for everything else. We get a reduced electric rate in heating season. Our Dec electric bill (covers everything in house except water) was $205. That's heating and all electric for a family of 4. It's a pretty cheap system to run. I know neighbors in past years would have $300+ monthly gas bills during winter!

and not to get political, that is being promoted in places, outlawing NG & LP appliances in new construction and requiring electric
