Title: Mxu 150x won't go in gear

I hope someone can help. My soms mxu won't go in gear. When moving the gear selecter it doesn't feel like it's trying to go into gear. I can move it to forward and reverse with the wheels of the ground and nothing happens. I am a former heavy equipment mechanic but never worked on an atv so not sure where ro start. He said he was stopped after riding a bit and when to put it in gear and it made a noise not real loud and hasn't gone into gear sense
