Found this photo the other day of my late brother as some kind of marshal in a small town parade. Probably for the 4th.
A buddy of his bought and rebuilt these things from all around the tri-state area, until his wife left him! Guy was a character - but influential. He helped me land a 30 yr job with a pension from the State after I was laid off from Wright/Patterson Air Force Base.
My brother is riding his reflector special.
There were 4 of them in the Sunday Scooter Breakfast Club.. Not a one of them bothered to get a motorcycle endorsement license. I've a pic of my brother on his Scarabeo - and he's wearing a helmet. Possibly because he was still in his driveway, with my SIL watching

is that like 6 degrees of 'Helix' separation? We all know someone who knows someone who had a Helix!
Funny you brought up the Helix...I was just out in the garage tonight, thinking I should drain the carb bowl on the Helix...so I got out my glass jar and 12 inch long screwdriver to access the carb drain screw. With my left hand I reached under the Helix and under a rubber drain hose with the glass jar, with my right hand I loosened the drain screw. Turns out there is more than 1 hose hanging under the Helix and I chose the wrong one....luckily there's only an ounce or two of gas in the carb bowl...easily wiped up off the floor.
