Title: Name of the bolt the variator stater pulley goes on and how to replace it?
Post by: Joshaglity50 on October 15, 2023, 02:08:16 PM
Hi everyone I have been having issues with the electric start ever since I derestricted my agility 50.
After a while of trying many stuff I fixed it by tapping the starter motor with a hammer which worked so I assume it was seized up inside? I have got a new one now and I am ready to replace it but now the big chain part of the  variator stater pulley now just turns independently without moving anything else (here's a video https://youtu.be/YuZzESw3o6s?si=smB89kul3sfly0rh). I assumed this was because I just didn't tighten the variator nut enough but I am still not sure. So I attempted to tighten the variator nut as much as I could with an impact gun and ended up damaging the thread of the bolt and the thread on the inside of the variator nut. So now not even a the exact same size nut will go on there. Does anyone know how I can replace this part?

You stripped the threads on both the nut and the end of the crankshaft. You will have to do a repair of your crankshaft extension like in the facebook video I posted.

I concluded "the big chain part" really was that big gear the little pinion gear on the starter turns, right?

Thanks for telling me the name of the part I stripped. Could you tell me how I could see your video on how to repair the end of the crankshaft.

And yes sorry I don't know terminology for most stuff.
