I have noticed a lot of bike and scooters, when the owner park them on the street all they do is side stand and steering lock, this makes me wonder if someone is gonna steal it wouldn't it be so easy?
When I park mine on the road side I would use steering lock and disc lock as minimum, if a post is around then I will lock the wheel up
with a small chain lock so that adds up to three lock , steering , disc and chain lock. That would make me feel safer !
If I park at my home , I still use the three locks and close garage door sometime I would park my friend car in front of my bike then close the garage door , ULTRA SAFE :o
So guys in a world when the HUMAN RIGHTS of scumbags thugs are more important than law abiding fellows , how do you defend your
bike again theft?

I use a 10 pound chain lock from On Guard and always lock to something firmly planted into the ground.
Hasn't stopped thieves from taking parts from the scoot though...

Around here it is mostly a problem with 49s that don't need registration. They know they can't re-sell a bigger scoot with-ought a paper trail so it keeps the amateurs away.
At home the scoot lives in a garage with a heavy lock. On the road i try to park in a very public spot risky for thieves. Near banks or ATMs there are usually security cameras. :)

I am using a Grip Lock. I will not prevent a determined thief but it will encourage them to move on to an easier target.

I guess I have been just lucky I just lock the stearing. the agilty is a big scoot so I fig if they want it bad enough it well take 2 to move it,

one thing honda as for theam selfs is they back up there word and well fix if it brakes down and is better at it then kymco. I found that out the hard way. and honda parts are easyer to find.

Having a really hard time getting a part on back order from Kymco.
Usually takes two to three weeks to get most parts.

Are you sure it's actually on backorder, or do you have a dealer who maybe waits to get a minimum order together to save (considerable) money on shipping?

Most affected are 50 cc 2 stroke scoots that can be easily mod-ed, especially Italian - Aprilia, Piaggio, Gilera.
I think you might leave keys in 50 cc 4 stroke scoot and nobody would steal it. :) They are simply considered to be too slow. :)
Sports bikes and naked bikes are targeted too. A few bikes of my friends were stolen - CBR 1000, Tuono, to name a few...

I've checked a couple of different places and nobody can get ahold of the part from Kymco at this time.
If you don't mind footing the shipping, try Stadium Yamaha (http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/73/Kymco.aspx).
If they can't help, PM me the Kymco part number (or do the best you can -- part description, year, model), and I'll look it up on KymcoUSA's online parts ordering system.
EDIT: Keep in mind, they DO occasionally run into backorder situations at KymcoUSA. Sometimes, they get a run on certain parts items that they didn't anticipate in their semi-annual parts orders, and they just have to wait for a big boat full of parts to arrive and clear customs, etc. Happened to me on brake pads this year!

I have talked to a bunch of places - and I've used Stadium Yamaha on a number of occasions to ship parts so I do like them.
Problem is nobody has it in stock and I'm still trying to get some kind of eta on when it will be shipped. The part is the center stand for an A-50: Part# 5050A-LDC8-E10 Description: stand comp main.
If you can find something out that would be great - I'm busy here....waiting for a number of these places to get back to me about what's going on.

Just an update:
I finally got into contact with a parts rep from Kymco USA and was told that they hope to have the part by the end of January - at which time it can be shipped to me.
So a (key) part I ordered in late November will take 2 months to get to me. At least I can still run the scoot - alhtough warming it up during these very cold days on a side stand is not a good option. I have to say, this makes it unlikely that I would go with another Kymco in the future. Imagine being unable to operate your scoot for a long period of time because they can't get a part for a month or two.
So the moral I take away from this is that is that part availablity is a critical factor in making a decision on what scoot to buy.

There are certain parts that you would find in any manufacturers line-up that will be like this -- parts that are ordered in quantities based on past demand on a 1-2x/year basis. If you happen to need that part after the U.S. distributor runs out, you gotta wait for a big boat from Asia to bring another one. I'm guessing they order about half as many center stands as they do body panels for each color for that scooter. It's not a high-wear item.
If you had needed a new drive belt or air filter, you wouldn't have run into this issue, most likely.
One tip: Sit on the scooter as it warms up. ;)

I use a heavy cable lock and lock it to a light pole, etc. If unable to do that, I lock the steering and park it next to something much neater to steal, like a Suzuki Hayabusa, or custom Harley! If those aren't available I look for a nice convertible with a GPS on the dash or a purse on the seat....to park next to.....always plan to have the least desirable target!
