Title: Calling All Mechanical Detectives
Post by: monkeybongos on September 17, 2023, 10:11:44 PM
Scooter (BV350) tipped over onto left side during the night.
Started and ran like usual for 15 miles.
Then fan kicked in, so I stopped for a minute.
Started up, no fan, but also no gages working
Went another 3 miles, stopped for an errand.
Scooter wouldn’t start, no lights on dashboard, only under the seat light working.
Roadside assistance tested battery, it was fine.

No idea what to do now

It was a blown fuse.  However, the replacement blew after about 15 miles again, so now it’s a matter of figuring out why.

It's a bare-wire short somewhere, perhaps as a result of a bump or scrape. You'll have to take it apart piece by piece, carefully examining all exposed or pinched wires.

MB, good to hear something from you again!
Just reconstruct how it fell and have a closer look at the scoots "impact" zone. Go from fuse backwards to its shielded items, should be to found.

Thanks JJ and Ruffus.  Hoping it would be moisture related and dry out in time.
Not mechanically inclined, especially w electrical,  Plus the plastic is not easy to remove around the dashboard.  But I’ll start poking around.

What did they advise on the Vespa forum when you told them that the fuse blew again in your Piaggio?
