Me...about every 10 to 15 seconds...or more often.
Modifying the mirrors on each of my 4 previous was my first order of business!

‘Bout the same Stig & always before the overtake or other manoeuvre. Like you short mirror extenders transformed my rearward vision, my shoulders being somewhat broader than yer average Asian rider!

checking mirrors is part of the deal to keep us alive! Check those mirrors and do head checks before changing lanes!

I read a post written by a young Vespa owner. He removed his 2 mirrors - preferring the sleek look. He commuted through London traffic every day!

Had a good friend who lasted about a year commuting in London before he was killed in an early morning collision. To quote Hill St Blues, Be careful out there!

same here, have yet to ride a bike with stock mirrors that see past my shoulders
I like to have mirrors that merge with my peripheral vision. I find bar end mirrors work well, I have a set of Doubletake mirrors on my K-Pipe, they use a RAM mount system
I adjust my mirrors so that only eye movement is required, I dunno, how often do I check, depends if some Ahole is tailgating me

Constant scan, similar to randyo and tailgaters....

constantly, More of my left side compared to my right since I ride slow. Always watching out for tailgaters who are in such a hurry to get nowhere important.
