Post by: Scooter Stan on July 22, 2023, 03:19:50 PM
Why no AK550 specific section under any heading?😳🤨

Ooer, there's a can of worms you've opened up!  But welcome to the forum anyway!

Yeah, that's been brought up many times for many of the more recent Kymco scooters to enter the lineup over the last several years.
This forum software is older and seems to be no longer supported... much. Thus the error indications at various places on the forum pages... mainly at the bottom of the post listings.

Oh, and welcome to the forum. ;D

Nevertheless,  put AK 550 in the subject line and fellow owners and interested members will read it. 💯%

Have you considered making a whole new forum? Maybe run it parallel to this one until we could transfer all the information collected. Just a thought.

Sounds like a whole heap of work for someone Dean, but I’ll admit the thought had crossed my mind too…

I wonder if we create forum with links to the old forum for past notes. Then you dont have to transfer the whole thing over...Kymcoforum2.0...lol

You'd presumably need the agreement of this Forum's original designer to do this; always assuming (s)he is still around to give such agreement?  Be useful to get a view on this from someone more knowledgeable than me though.

I can look into building a new forum. Just change the name to Kymcoworld or something different. Then changes and updates can be made more easily. The newer forum tech also has links to social media type sites. What do you guys think?

How about KymcoOwners or KymcoRiders.

I agree, we should have AK 550 own section.

I have seen forums like this split before, and they're never quite the same - you lose the years of topics and the reference material that makes forums so special.

I have been toying with the idea of approaching the admins to see if they'd consider handing the forum over, subject to it's running costs not being too mad. I work in IT, although I admit the phpBB would be a stretch for me. I'll mull it over. I think retaining the forum with it's topics is really important.

I actually agree with this over creating a new forum to run alongside this one.
The BEST path is if the admins/owners of this forum would put some effort into supporting it and updating it to fix the errors and bring it up to date and to add in sub forums for newer models and maybe even give moderators the authority to add categories and sub forums as needed.
