Took the Triumph for its annual roadworthiness test (MoT) last week only to have the tester point out that in 10 years it’s done only 5,200 miles 🙁
Now I love the bike and have a blast when I do ride it, but for most rides it’s just too easy to take the scooter. So, what to do? Do I drop down to one machine and maybe trade them both in for an AK550, Forza750 or the like?
Crunch year I think. If it clocks less than 500 miles* this year I reckon I need to bite the bullet and recognise one bike’s enough for me.
* C’mon, realistically that’s only two good days out!

seems like you have some tough choices to make, Neil! If you do decide to give up the Triumph at least you've had a lot of great bikes through the years..no regrets!

Trade the Triple for a BSA thumper!

What ever you decide to do, have fun looking and checking out a new ride.

My personal rule of thumb is that if I don't ride it at least 1000 miles per year it needs to go. Right now with 5 bikes that isn't an issue for any of them.

When I have trouble making a decision, I'll flip a coin. If unhappy w the result, I know which way to go.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys and Klav I like your rule of thumb* which I'm sure you've mentioned before! On that basis, if I could only be a bit more disciplined about sharing the riding time between the two, I could justify keeping both. Happy days.
* PS I take it you know the somewhat dubious origins of this particular expression?

I ended up owning two scooters simply because my LIKE was stuck at the dealership while they and KYMCOUSA argued about how to fix it. Things didn't look promising - I refused to take it home as is (faulty TPS playing up sporadically)
Finding I really enjoyed riding again after decades of not riding - I bought a red Forza 300!
Warranty fixed my LIKE - and now I have 2!
Have had 2 ever since - and I faithfully swap rides on them every week.
The Liberty rides better - but the LIKE has a weaker headlight....so....
Doesn't matter - I enjoy them both.
If I didn't - I'd unload the LIKE.
that's all I got....

I'm a packrat, I ride em into the ground and set them aside with plans to restore or modify that never gets done, I just buy a new bike
