I was talking to a vintage* fellow the other morning, over coffee outside our coffee shop.
He is needing to replace a rusty exhaust on his elderly Honda Relex scooter.
I mentioned after market exhausts.
He offered, "Those things make more noise. Why would I want to make more noise on a scooter? People will look - only to see that it's a scooter!"
"Fair point, Joe. This is America."
(I will admit - when I was a kid I'd clothes-pin playing cards on my bicycle's front wheel - I liked the cool noise they made. )
vintage Joe owns and maintains more old 2, 3 and 4 wheel vehicles than any man I know.

Having put aftermarket exhausts on dual sports, looking to reduce weight. These exhausts all made more noise, and truthfully I could not tell that weight loss made the machine feel different. The aftermarket exhaust for my Downtown 300 is advertised as being 1/2 the weight of stock. No claim of maintaining the stock level of sound. The only real time I think about how heavy the stock exhaust is, is when I remove it for maintenance. It's heavy.
But I really like my quiet scooter. And will save $400.

loud exhaust on a scooter would seem weird, to me anyway. Twist-n-go eliminates the ability to do throttle blips at a light, wring it out in 1st till yer screaming 152 db @ 13k rpm, Other than that, What's the point of loud exhaust

OK, my reason on my K-Pipe, I put a 190cc motor in that required larger diameter, due to previous experience, I went with a $29.95 Thrush Cherry Bomb sourced at my local NAPA, exact same muffler as I put on my V-strom 1000, on my Vee, it was part of a project to convert from dual exhaust to single, successful on both, as they meet db levels for state inspection (barely on the K-Pipe, and with a couple db to spare on my Vee)

I would love to put an aftermarket exaust on my agility 125cc. Only problem is that I can not find one that is a direct bolt on. Custom exaust that do fit cost around $500 and that is not something I want to spend.

I'm lucky to have a local fabricator that is good and reasonable, the custom exhaust for my K-Pipe was under $200 total. Similar price for the 2 into 1 pipe & midpipe he fabricated for my V-Strom
