Title: 2012 UXV500i Intake valve fuel injected
Post by: knukey on May 16, 2023, 04:10:40 PM
I have a no start on my UXV.  While checking we pulled the injector and turned it over.  The intake valve appears stuck open for some reason and blows fuel out during cycling.  Any ideas on what is wrong and a cost to fix?  I'm not mechanical, but my buddy that checked it is very qualified. Just wandering if I should sell it as is or pursue repair.

Thanks,
Kevin

@knukey welcome here!
Are you sure about seeing your INtake valve staying open?

For this to be seen you need either your valve cover off or an endoscope to have a look inside your cylinder.

Pls take some pics and share to get to a solution.

Sorry, I didn't take pictures.  I've put it back together, but yes I had the valve cover off and adjusted the intake valve.  Once I turned it over taking out the injector, fuel blew out of the intake/injector hole. My fear is the intake valve is failed somehow.

Do a compression check.
Was the intake valve clearance excessive?

It seemed the intake valve was too tight.

It seemed the intake valve was too tight.
Then it is unlikely the stem is bent and more likely the valve was leaking back through to produce the symptoms you listed.
