Title: AK550 differences ?
Post by: Super Dirt Dud on April 15, 2023, 05:49:57 PM
So I was on Kymco website and well I couldn't get on ? So I am wondering if anyone knows the difference between the 2022 and 2023 AK ?
If there isn't any I would look for a like new used one .

Thanks Tom

Differences?

For the USA I have yet to find ANY difference between the 2021, 2022, 2023 models other than color. I think I recall hearing about some improvement in the final drive front sprocket that happened between the 2021 and 2022 model that may have reduced some noise. Or maybe it was the year earlier (2020-2021). Maybe.

If you like Matte Crystal Silver then any of those model years will work since that color is available every year so far... in the USA. If you want the Matte Deep Blue then look for 2022 or 2023.

The AK 550 Premium model is only available in other countries, not in the USA. That model has some significant differences.

If you can find a low miles 2022/2023 AK 550 then go for it.
I'd actually say the same thing about any model bike.

Where do you live?

I have a 2022d with just under 4,000 miles.
Paid 11K out the door.
I'm in northern West Virginia not far from Pittsburgh, PA.

Well I absolutely love this MOTORCYCLE......I refuse to call it a scooter! LOL

And I swore I would never sell this bike ever.....but I might consider it....I'll give it some thought in the next few days and let you know. I plan on retiring 2025 sometime.

For now I'm keeping it....it puts a huge smile on my face every damn time I get on it and throw it around in the curves.....I am also 64 but VERY young at heart and not in bad shape at all.....I would probably sell it if we ever got the new Premium AK in a Glossy color paint here in the USA....

Very interestingly, the 2023 AK 550 has arrived in Australia, surprised by the same $15K AUD price. https://www.bikesales.com.au/editorial/details/kymco-ak-550-premium-arrives-in-australia-140560/

Changes include the obvious angular restyling, piano-key buttons for the lock, seat and fuel cap instead of the old rotary dial, traction control and cornering ABS.
