I have been suffering from REALLY hard starts and stalling until the scooter is warmed up.
The bike is a People 50 2 Stroke.
I finally pulled the Auto Choke unit and tested the resistance with an OHM meter.
Results are 0 resistance, it pins the meter when you hook up the leads.
This leads me to believe that the unit needs to be replaced.
Is there an other empirical way to test if the auto choke unit is functioning before I spend money on replacement parts?
Last question- where can I find a replacement part source online?

If it is 0, it is dead.
I have A125 and choke is probably the same, it should have 10 Ohm resistance.
Mine shows 18 Ohm, but I would say that's it.

That's what I thought.
Anyone know how to hook up a MANUAL choke to replace this AUTO unit?
OR- does anyone have a carb they would part out?

just an FYI- my people 50t came with a #70 main carb jet. Way to small, so replaced with i think, a #90 or #92. This did more than anything to resolve hard start/warming up issues. And, it's low budget- but I "choke" by placing thumb in air intake when starting/idling.
far as I know, and I've asked around plenty- no known way to add manual choke, I would love to do that also. Auto choke seems to be largely useless. Good luck...

Found it for about $20 new at Monster Scooter Parts. Kymco wanted $60. F- that.

Plugged it in , bolted it up to the carb, and kicked it over, fired right up. It's in the 30's right now too!

I wanted to fatten up the jetting for the cold weather- I think I have an 85 Main Jet in there now.
Anyone know where to get my hands on a 90 or even a 92 main jet? I think the carb is a Keihin.

For some reason,even replacement auto choke for Chinese scoots costs >50 US$. It is one of more expensive "spare parts" for 125 GY6.

I have a 50 2 stroke 1994 kymco people and have the same issues with a cold start.
however...you guys seem to be a step ahead of me and understand more then I do.
Where can I search to learn more about the bike...choke, auto choke install, OHM testing, etc, etc.
Is there a place in Hudson County NJ area to take a Kymco to get it looked at? I bought for a Great price but haven't had it looked at yet.
I'm also missing a Good gas cap...it doesn't close tight. I tried to have a new one ordered but was told they don't have 1994 Kymco Gas caps available...
any suggestions to get me started with my issues on choke and gas cap would be greatly appreciated.
