It’s minus 6c here this morning Stig. Think I’ll take the wife’s tin box!

For us gringos - that's 21.2 degrees fahrenheit. And, yeah, that is right where I will forgo a pleasure ride for coffee; though I have work commuted many times at or below that temp.
It is sleeting here right now 7:15 AM EST, 35 mins till sunrise. Still looking good for 5:00AM tomorrow.

Agreed Stig, it's a different calculation when it's a work trip.  I too have commuted in temperatures down to about -8C and I have to say 25 miles at that temperature on a bike with no heated grips or muffs was really "character building!"  Had to stop every few miles to thaw my hands out by gripping the top of the cylinder block!  Used Reusch leather ski gloves and in extremis mittens  back then; fine down to about -2, but below that frequent stops needed.

This was me this morning at the point I decided not to go for that ride....
