Hey guys, I've just bought a 50cc kymco agility RS and have been searching around your site for ages but no one has actually said how to deresticted the cdi. One guy on here said he THINKS its the same as the people 50 and super 8 cdi and needs the red/violet wire cut but I don't wana go screwing my bike up on a hunch. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas?
I have not had a chance to see what one I have inside yet but will try look tomorow if it's not snowing
Thanks,
Jas
-
If you could post a picture of your cdi it would help.
Tom g in the agility 50 thread is working on the same issue.
Between the two of you, you'll get it figured out I'm sure.
-
Hiya, Jaspi. How ya liking that Agility RS? Hey, is that the one with the big tires on it??
-
lol I think you got nice big tires lol what color did you get lol you got a better ride than your mate lol he gonna wish he had your ride instead of that speedfight LOL ;D
-
I got the agility 50. It's blue. Wow. Yellow and black and red. I bet your scoot is looking good.
You have any pictures of it?
-
Wow, thanks, jaspi. You got an iPhone? I'm jealous. I just got a crappy phone with no camera.
-
Ohhh...that kind of gift! Hey, Jas...I'll trade ya phones. :D
-
Ha! You're a mess, Jas!! I Love it!!!
What makes you think I'd give you the right keys??
-
LOL...you say you wanna ride it like you stole it, eh?
-
'Nite, Jas. Have a good one!
-
1:40 AM! Yikes.!! You better get your butt to bed then. And you better put up that pic of your CDI tomorrow like you promised or I'm gonna steal your iPhone.
-
Maybe this will help??

-
lol I thought you was P.I.
You mean you don't have a CDI Box thingy beside your battery, Jas?
-
Hey, no rush, Jas. Take your time. lol
And be careful with that knife. ;D
-
Yes, it should be right next to the battery.
-
Ha! Okay, Jas. Glad ya found it! :D
-
Have you seen the pictures/info from this thread before?

Should be same cdi as yours.
-
Alright! You got your pictures posted!! Knew you could do it, Jas. :)
-
Did you read the posts in the link above?
That should explain it - sound like you just need to unplug one of the wires. So no need to cut which is great because you can always plug it back in.
Hard to tell from your pictures, but are some of the wires pink?
-
Hiya, Jaspi, you could just pull one wire out and take a little test run and come back and tell us how it did, okay? Don't cut anything. :)
-
Derestricting the cdi will give you some extra revs, but not make a huge difference. And Rianna is right, just pull out one of the pink wires - don't cut anything.
You really need to derestrict the drive boss to give you that extra top end.
-
You ever unplug your television or toaster, Jas. Just unplug. Try that then plug it back in.
-
I think you can do it! ;D
-
You are humorous so I will humor you. Okay here is what you can do. You can Grab the wire in your hand and move your hand to the end of the wire and look at the end to see how it is connected. Then you can decide how to disconnect it on your scoot. Let's start with that. ;)
-
You'll probably need a small blade of some type of get in there and pop the wire out.
A small blade flat screwdriver would do it - but in your case a small knife is probably more your style.
Just slip the end of the wire out of the connector and tape it off (the wire that is).
-
And Jaspi, please don't have the key in the ignition. Just in case.
-
Love ya, Jaspi. It's been fun messin' with ya...:D
-
Yeah, it might just be a trial and error kind of process.
That's why you want to be careful when you pull out that pink wire...
-
Hi, Jas. Have you taken the pink wire out? How many pink wires do you have?
-
Hi, Jaspi! Wow! Long time no see! You was gone a long time! Oh MY! You better warm up before going back out there! You might need that there body part for something!
Yank one of them wires out of there, baby! Then you be ready to roll! ;)
-
Okay, what about this?>
Cut a wire? Then you could always add a piece of wire to it later to connect it back up and put electrical tape over it...
-
Jaspi, I sure don't want you to mess up your scoot. Maybe you could order a cheap CDI for about $15 and cut the wire on it and put it on your scoot. Then when you go the dealer you could switch them. Would that make you feel less nervous?
-
Oh Shoooot! Well you better just go on and ride that baby like you stole it then and get to that service appointment. Go on and get warmed up now...don't want you freezing your patootie off no more. You take care, hon. Come back and see us real soon, okay?
Don't want mom and dad killing you. lol
-
sounds like a good plan.
You can always put the wire back in if it doesn't work.
-
Ha! I wasn't gonna tell you to do it...but I knew you were gonna do it...You loving it now? ;D
Don't tell your m8 on that speedfight...just take him by surprise with it! ;)
And yes, you will want to tape both ends of that wire up real good with black electrical tape as soon as possible so they don't accidentally connect again with current running through them, not regular tape, okay?
And yeah...there is probably some kind of cheap tool at the hardware store for putting wires in, but it looks like you won't need one now...you gonna tell that dealer, if he asks, that you was just trying to take that battery cover off with a knife and when it popped open the knife slipped out of your hands?? :D
Have fun, Jas!!!
-
If your scoot starts up good, they may not have any reason to look around near that CDI box anyway. There is a list on the forum here (somewhere) of all the things they supposed to check for the first service. I don't remember if CDI was even on the list...may have to search for that list...lol
Wow! 40 - 45mph...You are Rolling now!!
-
Unless they test drive it, they'll never know.
i cut the hole wire by accident !!!
Hope you're not training to be a surgeon or something... ;D
At least you cut the right one!
-
Well, Jas...hmm.
If they were to drive it faster than it was designed to go with a stock rev-limiting CDI they would be in the wrong for doing that to your scoot in the first place.
So...in order for them to tell you that YOU did something wrong (from just a test drive) they would have to admit to you that THEY did something wrong.
I think U be OK. ;)
Whatcha think?
Wow...it jumps from 28 to 40 that quick, huh?
*clumsy* lol
-
Sounds awesome! You're gonna be loving your scoot now! :)
Let us know how that service visit turned out.
-
How many km you got on it now, Jas?
-
Hey, Jaspi, can you tell me what you read? Thanks.
-
Jaspi, why you messin' with me like that? lol. And why weren't you out riding all day today? lol. I do wonder what you read on the forum. I searched and tried to find it, but I couldn't so I thought you meant something you read on your warranty paper.
Are your parents gonna sell your scoot? I wouldn't sell a brand new scoot...warranty or not. Kymco scoots are awesome! And they do last a very long time if you take care of them. How old are ya, Jas?
-
If they find out I de restricted it they will sell it for sure.
I can either tell my parents or go along with the service and hope they don't cancel my warranty and rat me out
And I'm 16 nearly 17
-
Hi, Jas, Sorry I missed ya this morning, buddy! ;)
Hey, you're nearly 17 so you're a young adult now. Surely you don't need me telling you what you should or shouldn't do. You probably would have cut that wire no matter what I said. But ya know...I do hate to see you worrying so much. You're not the only person who has ever done something and then later wished that they hadn't done it. :)
PSST...What kind of CDI does your m8 have in his speedfight?? :D
I hope you have a good day at school today...
-
He's would not work in mine.
If I ordered a new cdi would it come with the extra wires?
-
Dang...I missed ya again...sorry, I was searching for a link on the forum.
Yes, the wires come with the CDI, Jas. You stayed home from school today??
-
Yeah I over slept and missed like 2 hours of college so I didn't bother. I decided I'm just gunna go down to the dealer at 1000 miles and If he voids my warranty it's not the end of the world I guess.. I doubt he will bother unless he's a real grumpy bastard, if he does I just won't buy from there again and I will tell my m8s that are gettin 125s not to buy there muwhaha lol
-
You so funny, Jas! Is it Jas like for Jasper or maybe for James?
So you been out ridin' all around today so you can rack up them kms fast and get that service trip to the dealer's over with? 200 or so kms should not take too long to add up.
And...Whatcha studyin' in college, dude?
UH-OH, your m8s gettin' 125s?? I have a feeling you gonna be back again sometime soon then...:D
-
Jas is just a Internet name I came up with.
And nah I'm getting a Honda cbr or cbf sometime when I can afford it at 17 and I'm the closest too 17 lol
I won't rush to 1000km but my sudden freak out is over lol
-
Hey Jaspi - glad to have you back, you were scaring us for a while. If cutting the cdi was a big deal there's a couple of dozen of us here who'd be in trouble!
If the dealer gives you a hard time, just tell him that when you came out of church following your choir practice last week, you saw a gang of hoodlums bent over your scoot messing with the wiring trying to steal it.
You confronted them and had to take on 4 of them (all much bigger than you) bare-handed, but were able to defeat them and save the scoot while also saving an elderly blind woman who was being mugged by the hoodlums. :o
Conversely, you could just tell the dealer to piss off if he gives you a hard time about it. ;D
Oh, and for the record, your scoot should have a little tool kit strapped under your seat - it has a screwdriver so in a pinch you should use that instead of a knife to do maintenance on the scoot.
-
Anyone know where I can get new super 8 50 4T cdi wires from? Or the cdi with the wires?
Derestricting has just taken the fun out of ridding now, before I can do what ever, care free but now I'm constantly looking around for police.
-
You try eBay yet, Jas?
How long 'til that service appointment?
-
If you don't crank the throttle wide open for an extended period of time and hit top end, nobody will notice.
Not sure about where you are, but we all ride over 30mph pretty regularly and the police don't care - as long as you aren't weaving around and driving crazy.
-
So you been out racing around the neighborhood then?? :D
-
eBay hasn't got anything.
And yeah I see that but round here there is police down every damn road near enough and I'm only on a provisional so if I get caught it's an instant 6 points at least. So at the best I will just loose my licence and have to pay a heavy fine.
And I'm looking to get a 125 Honda cbf in about 4-5 months so it's not worth the risk
Oh and I have to get my service in 150 km so I'm gunna need to tell my parents and try get a cdi unit asap
I've been looking at this and have opened a ticket asking if it comes with the wires

-
You don't need a cdi, you need the wire harness.
Nothing wrong with the cdi.
-
You can't just buy the wires anywhere though, it's hard enough to just find the cdi

Where did Jaspi go?
Think they caught Jaspi and he's serving time now?
Or maybe his parents sent him to military school?
Perhaps he's on the run?
One wonders...
-
I'm still here lol just been busy. I went for the service today and the guys didn't really care, and in 45 mins I was on my way
-
Good to hear you've survived through your period of civil disobedience.
You're officially a badass now.
This is how it starts - soon you'll be modding your roller weights and clutch, then the exhaust system...
-
Lol, Yeah maybe :P
-
Alright! Jas survived the first service (only 45 mins...Wow) and didn't have to sell his scoot! ;D
