* That trash bin has a raccoon-proof lid. This being Ohio - it has also proven to be too much for people -
I often have to stop and clean up trash next to it.

After being startled when a raccoon jumped out of my rolling trash bin, I stopped putting trash into the bin at night. I didn’t bother the ‘coons during the day and they had access to the bin at night if they liked. Harmony always achieved.

Years ago, I walked down late at night at our apt complex to toss trash in the dumpster, and a whole family of raccoons bolted out of it!
I still remember what a thrill that was!
Right up there - was the mother* bear next to our hill-top cabin in Gatlinburg 2 summers ago. She knew how to open the latch on the trash bin! I went out to grill some meat.....and we met.
We learned - no bacon grease in there till we're ready to leave!
