Title: All the Kymco models not sold in USA
Post by: NorWeWa on October 27, 2022, 03:51:42 PM
Watched a couple YouTube videos of the many models available in Italy and the EU that really makes me very envious.

This video especially shows many 300 and 350 models. Not sure of the country for this video.

I like the step through designs. Fine with the smaller wheels. Lots of things I like about my 2016 Downtown 300i. Out of that line of Kymco scooters I would have a hard time choosing one.  One that looks real good to me is the KRV 180. Not in that video. Surprise to see the Agility 300.

thanks for the vid...I also love to see what is offered in other parts of the world. I still find it very interesting that scooters are named in English around the world. Seems a bit odd..

Oops! Must’ve missed it. Thanks Hawk. Yes I can see it after a longer search, also loads of models not brought to the UK 🇬🇧 including my (now discontinued here) X-Town 300!

Watched a 30 minute un-boxing of an AK550 on YouTube from a country I did not recognize, using an alphabet of Eurasian appearance. Interesting to see all the features and what appears to be very good design.

The Kymco 3 wheel design is not one at this time I would consider, but with strength changes it does look like a good alternative.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JhfdSE4Xlc

Another short YouTube on the 3-wheel Kymco. This one from the UK with good narrative.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAmFlt3s4BM

interesting..my first thought was that it was a rebadged Piaggio or even Yamaha but it has the AK550 twin motor in it..so it appears to be all Kymco! Like all things scooters, there seems to be a bigger global market for these in all places but the US!

From what I read about the CV3 last year I get the impression that it is the AK 550 with a reworked front end.

And now Kymco has announced at EICMA another new/continued 2023 AK 550 Premium! Also not available in the USA. I say "continued" since it is basically the same as the 2022 AK 550 ST that was released earlier this year and being continued for next year. So far I've seen one dealer in the USA that has the 2022 AK 550 and is advertising it as for 2023, but still showing it as a 2022 model in the description. The 2022 AK 550 is the Euro 4 version and the AK 550 ST or Premium models are Euro 5 or better. Mine is the 2022 USA model.

I have yet to get excited about the CV3 or any other 3 wheeled scooter like that. Just feel like too much mechanics to go wrong to me. Though I'm sure they have it well engineered to be reliable. At least I don't recall reading about any issues with them.

Agree that a lot of tech could mean more problems. In the long run I go for the low tech. Just thinking of dealing with the weight and the 3 wheel would eliminate a lot of weight issues. Still big and that would have concerns. Did not see that it had reverse.
For all of my riding a light weight 150 works best. For now the Downtown 300i is manageable, but I always have to be cautious that it's heavy and I could drop it.

https://www.kymco.com/overseas  It's probably me, but my internet searches for the year 2023 Kymco scooters goes astray. The link here leads to the 2023 year. And there are some changes, like no XTown 300i, and no XTown CT300i, which I really liked. The 276 cc engine is not used in any Kymco models.
And sadly for the USA we will not see some really interesting models.

I have yet to get excited about the CV3 or any other 3 wheeled scooter like that.

Three-wheelers like this are useful in dodgy weather and snow.  They don't go down like a 2-wheeler that loses traction.  They handle like a cross between a snow-mobile and a motorcycle. Thus they're really popular with the m/c cops in snow country!
