While sitting in the dark with my coffee on the Group W bench watching it rain...a guy on a Vespa-like scooter went by - in the pouring rain, tail light out, no gloves, no jacket, no helmet - wearing glasses! Head soaking wet!
And then on the way home - maybe 15 seconds after checking my mirrors - ("car with lights on about 1/3rd mile back")...and braking for a T intersection. My brakes suddenly made a very 'new' noise!....
NO! it is a Sheriff Deputy's car alongside my left elbow -lights flashing- - hitting his siren!
The brake noise I heard was him hitting his siren for a split second - then full - on as he passed me, turned and sped off.
This policeman was flying - he was behind and over the hill of the car behind me when I looked in my mirrors.

It was plenty wet this morning.
