Title: Cloud cover determines my ride mornings
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on October 05, 2022, 10:38:36 AM

If I have the luxury of choosing between two mornings to ride out for coffee....lately - I've been checking the weather forecasts to find the sunrise which has at least some accompanying cloud cover.

It is just a whole lot less stressful to NOT be riding home directly into a low rising sun. It not only hampers my vision, more it also hampers the vision of the drivers following me up to stop lights!

I pulled into this farm lane for this photo .... taken about 6:20AM on my way OUT of town to my coffee village. No problem with the sun at my back.
Lately - it has been in my face again.

I'll take the pup for a walk at the reservoir....sun rises are never a problem there!

I can understand that. I’ve said before how I commuted for >6 months 50 miles into a low sun on both outward and return legs! You’re right, it is stressful and if you have a choice to pass on the clear sky days then I for one wouldn’t blame you. The last thing you need is to be tailgated at red light on the way home!
