never really been a true baseball fan, haven't watched a game in years, and when I did, it was only cause I was hanging out with others that did watch. Even though I don't watch games, I do like watching documentary movies, last week i watched one on Nolan Ryan, played longer than he ever though possible himself, when he started playing, he continued to work toward a veterinary occupation, and has been a successful cattle rancher since his retirement from baseball, one of the greatest pitchers that ever played the game

Stopped following baseball after their strike in the offseason. I stayed away 3 years the last time they went on strike - may never come back.

I think I told this here before....
No matter.
I worked for several years at a psychiatric hospital.
One of my jobs was to take patients on group outings every Friday. (I did this week in and week out for 13 yrs)
For a time in our 20's my assistant was a lovely young lady just over from Hull, England.
This week we took the patients to a Cincinnati Reds major league game against the hated LA Dodgers.
During the game I tried to answer all of her questions about baseball. "Strikes, outs, balls, foul-balls, foul-tips, innings, the catcher in armored gear, the man lurking & gesticulating behind the catcher who seemed to have anger issues, etc."
Finally I realized it was a losing battle.
I remember that she commented on the "angry spectators" seated around us...and that our game resembled something called "rounders".
She drove me a couple times in her MGB, expertly. Then she bought a new Chevy Citation which spent most of its life disassembled on the dealer's shop floor - as they repeatedly tried to sort out the balky auto-transmission. Then she bought a GTi Jetta - and lived happily ever after.
