Title: Throttle stuck on Xciting 500

The throttle on my  Xciting  500 is stuck closed.
The bike was not ridden for several months.
Is it possible the throttle cable rusted? Or that the throttle body is gummed up with dried gasoline?

I would much appreciate any suggestions!!

I vote for rusty cable. The cables are not stainless and WILL rust.
