Title: 2022 KYMCO AK 550/500 rider seat
Post by: Dale on July 21, 2022, 08:44:10 PM
Utopia Products makes a rider backrest for the 500. They will make me one for the 550 if the seats are the same. How would I go about finding if they are the same?

Kymco Xciting 500???
(there is no AK 500).

They are not the same. But they might be close enough where it matters for a rider backrest.
The 500 seat is hinged at the front and AK seat is hinged at the rear of the seat.
But IF the rider backrest mounts using the stock rider back pad rods AND IF those are the same on both then it should work. Otherwise I cannot say. I haven't found a photo of the bottom side of the seat pan of an Xciting 500 to compare.

Thanks Bob, did more investigating and think your correct. It won't work. On my Burgman's I removed the backrest then with some rails made it about 8 inches higher.

That is a common farkle on Burgman scooters and also a few others that I know of. Many riders I know have used a Isuzu car seat head rest and bent the rods for that to fit the stock sockets for the Burgman rider seat bumper. Don't know the measurements on that head rest or if that will work on the AK.
