I just purchased a 2006 Xciting 250 with only 1100 miles. The bike run pretty well, just getting the first tank of gas and sea foam through it. There is a problem with the idle speed. Usually it wants to idle at about 3000 rpms, but some times it will drop to about 1500 and runs a little rough. Previous owner said the mechanic thought it might be a throttle position sensor. Anyone know about this problem? - Bill

1800-1900 is normal idle for Kymco's 250 cc engine.
3000 could be OK for short period of time if it runs under choke.
If it is 2006, I doubt it has injection, and if it has carburetor, there is no such thing as "throttle position sensor".
I wonder if there is problem at all.

Right, may not be a problem at all. Rough idle when auto-enrichment is shutting off and returning to normal idle may be normal. May get better as you run more cleaning chemicals through it and ride it more. My 2007 carb 500 will sometimes idle close to 3000 for a brief time when cold -- then comes down below normal for maybe 5 minutes or more till fully warmed.

Check all of you vacuum hoses. I had a broken hose and it would not idle for nothing for me. I replaced the hose and and it purrs like a kitten.
