Actually got the like 150 up to 57 today! Felt really fast. With me on it, I think that’s probably about the max I’ll get out of it. Might get a couple more mph over a longer distance. I weigh about 250, so I’m happy it made it that fast.
-
Sounds about right, my old Honda PCX 125 always struggled to top an indicated 65. Not long distance tools really although you do see some mega mile rallies done on them!
-
I had my K-Pipe up to 63 once going down a steep hill, otherwise, 50-55, depending how long a stretch. But that is all in the past, I replaced the 125cc with a GPX 190cc engine, easily gets up to 70, and it's got more, but I'm scared, the bike ain't made to go that fast, got a YSS shock coming, maybe that'll help my fright, I'm thinking I can do close to 80, a smaller person that could get into a good tuck, maybe 90, I doubt that it would do a ton
-
If mine would hit the 60s I’d ride it to work, a twenty mile trip. But it’s 45-55 most of the way, which is a bit fast.

before my engine swap, I always took the back roads (mostly gravel) now, with the 190, I can keep up with traffic, even been on a short 2 exit highway run, to detour around downtown traffic. Something I wouldn't have dared to do with the 125cc motor

That would be flying on a smaller bike like that!

Haven't had to in awhile - but my old LIKE200i showed 55>57 on the speedo the last time I was forced on to 55mph Rt68.
so was probably doing @52mph.
Which I consider plenty fast enough on a 260lb scooter, with a short wheelbase and 12" tires.
My normal cruise is @35>38MPH.....and slower than that in the dark before sunrise.

yep, if the 150's would easily get into the mid 60's (mph) they'd be ideal! The reality is that they top out in the upper 50's and maybe make it into the low 60's with throttle pinned..on a downhill!
You really need to get into a 250cc or 300cc class scoot to comfortably ride the (55mph) highway.

I think that might be the difference in the water cooled 150's? They generally have a bit more HP and can get into the upper 60's - or so the owner's claim.
Some claim 70+
Doesn't matter to me - I'd want more bike under me to ride above 50MPH. The 489lb Burgman was cruising like a Buick on that same Rt 68 - had to pay attention or I'd be rolling past 60>65. My fav thing about that scoot was it's heavy/comfy ride and g r e a t pair of DRL headlights. I aimed the right headlight further up the right shoulder of the road for my night rides.(The Forza had nice twin DRL's, too....

My Like 150i will do an indicated 65 (which is actually about 63) on a level road.
The odometer is really optimistic - about 12% "fast".
-
I had mine out on the state route today, fastest I got was 60, and that was slightly downhill. Mostly was anywhere between 50-55.

plus our 'indicated' is usually quite optimistic...I think mine isn't too far off at about 3-4 mph fast...but best to verify with a gps/speedo app on your phone.
-
Last time I checked the 150cc it was 6% optimistic.

Mine will do a bit over 60 with a fresh belt and rollers but as those wear the top speed will drop. The rollers in the 150i don't hold up well. I'd replace them every 5000 miles or so. Belt replacement interval is 12,000 miles but i haven't had a belt last that long yet. I think part of the reason is that the rollers wear unevenly and cause the variator to get jerky. Another issue is that the tiny variator air filter gets dirty and I didn't realize I needed to clean it. It was filthy and probably restricted the air flow which is needed to cool the belt and variator.

I have found, with my K-Pipe, even though I have the engine to do it now, I'm not really comfortable going faster than I could before, every time I get above 65, it feels shaky, I dunno if it's flex in the frame, or aerodynamics. I haven't been up to that speed with my new mirrors, they are out further, and lower, and more aerodynamic shape (imho without a wind tunnel) I could try a different helmet, things like that. It's not easy to be aerodynamic on a naked bike, especially when I am 50 lbs. bigger than the bike. It's so small underneath me, it's like riding a stool down the road, the front wheel, speedo or mirrors are not in my field of vision without moving my head, completely taking my eyes off the road, mirrors are almost in my field of view
If I could find a fly screen, would help

Yep, some are comfortable going 70 on a stool. Many of us are not.
You're one of the first I've heard say, "I could go faster - but I wouldn't enjoy it."
Well done, you!

when I first got my S200 I never even full throttled it...I had the sensation of riding on an office chair at terrifying speeds while surrounded by maniacs in cars!
Now..I enjoy the speed and am completely used to it...but first starting out?...wow...

luckily, I'm not usually surrounded by traffic, I live in a rural area, with back roads to sneak into town and keeping off the main drag..... unless I need gas, my first fill-up over $5 today, $5.06 for 0.92gal of Sunoco 93. I'm now realizing most of the noise I make is not the Cherry Bomb exhaust, it's the intake honk
I did a short stint on the highway today on my way to my dentist appointment, and a tractor-trailer passed me just as I was exiting, NO, highway only if absolutely necessary, I thought the wake of that truck was gonna blow me off the highway, probably would have, if I wasn't slowing to get off, Scooters mys have better aerodynamics than a K-Pipe

Some bikes are just like that. It could be the aerodynamics or the frame or even the tires. I have had a few bikes that got unstable before reaching top speed. I never got to top speed on my 82 GS550E or my KLR 650. Most of my scooters have been perfectly stable at top speed. My Majesty tops out around 90 and that feels fine but I have seem triple digits going downhill and that felt a bit shaky. My Like will do a bit over 60 but it feels like 70 would be no issue if it had the power to reach that speed.
I think that with your K pipe the frame may not be stiff enough to allow for really high speeds.

Suzuki limits the V-Strom 1000 for that reason. Gears 1,2 & 3 are restricted to limit intake honk in lower gears to meet EPA regs, also restricted in 5th & 6th cause the bike is not safe over 125-130 and 4th is the only unrestricted gear, I discovered can do 138 @ redline
