Title: 50cc Vibe 2007 in Australia.
Post by: locallawoff on November 13, 2010, 07:58:00 AM
Gidday All.I have a 2007 50cc Vibe and having trouble starting it.I have cleaned the Carby 3 times and set the air screw to the manual specs.I can start it in the mornings but cant start it in the afternoon. The autostart thingy is OK as per the tests. There is spark at the spark plug but dosnt look right. When I try to start it the motor turns OK but it seems too far advanced.I was wondering if the CDI could be faulty and telling it to fire at the wrong time.

Hi, have you tried with a fresh spark plug first? They cost less than a new CDI. Your old spark plug might look wrong because of changing the screw settings around. If you could get your hands on a new spark plug it might help with the troubleshooting. You might want to try that before looking at the CDI. Good luck.

Sorry you're having troubles with your scoot. Maybe I misunderstood. What "doesn't look right"??

Try unplugging the CDI and then plug it back in.

This will reset the cdi and might help if the cdi is the problem.

Gidday again,When I turn the motor over to test the spark to me the spark is almost continuous compared to revs of the starter. Thanks >:(

I'm still not quite sure I understand. (Sorry) Do you mean like it's arcing or there is a connection that is off maybe?

Gidday again,I will try to explain the problem.I removed the spark plug and connected the HT lead to check spark. When I wind the motor over and watch the plug for a spark the colour of the spark is very dull and almost continuous compared to the revs of the motor. When winding the motor over with the plug in trying to start the scoot it winds over no problems then it reaches a point that the motor seems to fire at a point when the piston is on its way up the cylinder ie too far advanced which it makes me think it is the CDI as it controls the firing sequence and timing .I hope this may help my problem. Thanks

Hi, locallawoff. I haven't been able to find a manual online for your scoot yet. But I did come across this video on youtube and there may be others on youtube as well. Those folks that have the same scoot as you may know where to find a manual. Good luck.

Hi again, locallawoff, I was looking in my manual (Agility 50) for some things earlier today and I saw these troubleshooting things and thought I'd post it for you.

Weak or no spark
Faulty spark plug
Fouled spark plug
Faulty CDI unit
Faulty pulser coil
Broken or shorted ignition coil
Broken or shorted high-tension wire
Faulty ignition switch/coil

Incorrect timing
Faulty CDI unit
Faulty pulser coil

The CDI unit is not adjustable. If the
ignition timing is incorrect, inspect the
CDI unit, pulser coil and A.C. generator
and replace any faulty parts.

Gidday Rianna,Thanks for that.I have narrowed it down to the CDI.It started in the morning and let it run at a great rate of knots for a half hour.It stopped and would not start.I put the CDI in the freezer for 10 mins plugged it back in and away it went till it got warm then it cut again.I do have a manual. Thanks

G'day, locallawoff, your welcome. :) Have you thought any about upgrading your exhaust system?
Title: Re: 50cc Vibe 2007 in Australia.
Post by: thebatman on November 26, 2010, 02:33:58 PM
since you have put an open air filter on, i would do a plug chop to see if any leaner....if you drill 5- 3/8in holes in the bottom of your exhaust it will help you some.(gotta get more air out if more comes in). then you will probably need to upjet a tad... i have become a firm believer in rejetting now..... i would try some 7.5 rollers after that to get you started...

Just thought I'd ask, locallawoff, are you looking to go with the rollers or the sliders on your scoot?

I WILL NEVER ENTER THAT SHOP AGAIN TO BUY ANY PARTS AT ALL. >:(  &^&**%$&$$*

Yeah, I've found that the dealers are only good for OEM parts.

Luckily, there are plenty of other places that will help you out with making the scoot go faster.

Keep on looking!

Gidday Rianna and the Batman. When you are on a old age pension you have to be very carefull where the pennies go all the time.I will have to do the upgrade in bits. Thanks

Have you tried this place yet, locallawoff? I think they ship to your country. They do have a Free Shipping option if you don't mind waiting a few weeks for your items to arrive. Understand about the pension. Doing one thing at a time can be great. You get to watch your scoot transform. :)

Nothing wrong with taking it slow.

The best part is that you can concentrate on one thing at a time.

And you'll always have a project to do!

OK Everyone,Took scoot for a hurtle down the road(with eye open for cops).Motor runs ok but bogs down mid throttle and slowly winds out.I cant drill holes in muffler because they wont reg(licence it) here in Queensland Australia. What size jet do I need to correct this problem keeping in mind you cant buy them here in OZ.Thanks ::)

G'day, locallawoff, I'm not so familiar with the Vibe model. Do you know offhand what size jet you have in it now? I'm not sure what # they come with originally. thebatman might come in and post an answer later...he seems to be up on these things as he is modding his scoot as well. If sidthesloth ever comes back from camping over there in the land down under I bet he will know too. He loves tinkering with his bikes. I don't want you to run your scoot if it's running lean and mess it up or anything. If you're not sure what you have in it now and no one comes in and posts up an answer for you later I will try to find an answer for you.

How's the weather over there in your beautiful country today? We have 39 degrees Farenheit weather here today...a bit brisk! Brrr :)

Gidday Rianna,At the moment 12.10 PM it is 28 deg Celcius  and absolutly beautiful.I live in Mackay Queensland gateway to the famous Barrier Reef and home to the lethal box jellyfish and the lethal Irukanji jellyfish and the lethal saltwater crocadile as well as the most dangerous snake in the world the Taipan but apart from those insignifcant things Australia is the best place to live .The Vibe is a zx50 and the jet size I seen someware it was a #90????. Martin, WOW, it sure sounds like the best place to live!! I would avoid that snake and all them lethal things, though.

I'll have a look and see what I can find out for ya. :)

G'day, Martin, did you mean that your jet now is a #90? I found a ZX50 manual and it says that the main jet should originally be a #80. ???

I wanted to tell you to go up about 4 or 5 sizes, but I don't want to give you the wrong number. You may have to take yours out and have a look to see what you already have in it there, Martin. I don't want you to order the wrong thing and waste your money.

Well it does seem that some folks have a different # jet to start out with, Martin. You can look at this topic here to see what I mean:

GiddayRianna,I checked the jet and it is a #80 so that gives me something to go on.I have a agreement with the nasties they keep out of my locality and I keep out of theirs.Incedintly a crocadile was spotted up north at 8M plus that is a hugh croc.Seeing as how I cant buy jets here I will have to buy US.Gotta go catch you L8r.Martin

G'day, Martin! I am so excited to read that your scoot is running great now!! :)

Wow...So you found a jet and replaced it that fast?? Did you go back to that local shop that refused to sell performance parts in disguise and tell them you just wanted it for your niece's science project in school or something? ;D

So what would you like to do next, Martin. The rollers maybe?? ;)

If I had some around I sure would send them to ya because I know you want to be out riding with all that beautiful weather you have there. It is 4 degrees Celsius here!!
