Title: Rear Caliper Rubber Boots
Post by: -kp- on February 22, 2022, 01:10:22 AM
The rubber boots on both the upper and lower caliper pins have pretty much vaporized.  The nut on the mounting plate was missing and the caliper was basically free floating beating up the grommets.  Yikes!!!

Where can you find replacements?  I can't find them on the diagrams as an individual part number.  Seems silly to replace a caliper just for those.

You might find a used caliper assembly on ebay at a reasonable price.

Thanks Stig, I was afraid of that.  I'll hunt around and report back.  There are a bunch of china clones out there that night get me the parts I need.

interesting..I just looked at some parts schematics and I couldn't find any of the rubber boots, either. I looked at a few different models. Seems strange not to offer those as replacement parts. I'd still try a call to my local Kymco dealer as they may have a solution, otherwise it's probably ebay, amazon, etc.

For reference the China clone caliper boots do the job.  This caliper design is used by several OEMs, you'll need to do some creative searches, but it seemed to be common with the dirtbikes.  Those boots are avaliable as individual part numbers and probably better quality than the China clones.  I realized this after I already ordered the clone.  Ohh well, I needed new pads since they wore uneven so it worked out for my situation in the end.

kp - thanks for the follow up. Do you have any part codes or anything else that would be useful to others in their own future searches for these parts?

I was specifically looking at the Honda CRF (2006ish) caliper as an oem BOOT replacement.  With that said, it's unconfirmed if it will work on our scoots.

The clone calipers are all over Ebay/Amazon etc..
