Paris is kicking around the idea of maybe banning PTW's from the city.
The major complaint seems to be centered around the noise pollution (not pollution from exhaust) of motorcycles and scooters.
I'd be behind that 100%!
I see absolutely no reason to have to tolerate the noise from aftermarket, or failed stock - pipes within the confines of city streets.
They provide no real performance gain - and are fitted by 99.9% of owners as vanity accessories who insist on sharing the fart of their expensive (but generic - heck they'll fit everything from a Sear's riding mower to a Ducati) pipes with the rest of us.

Been on the books here for years, but pretty much no enforcement.
I suspect it's used as a tack on when someone's pulled for something else if they're being a dork.
https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.37.390
(3) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the engine of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle, and it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle not equipped as required by this subsection, or which has been amplified as prohibited by this subsection. A court may dismiss an infraction notice for a violation of this subsection if there is reasonable grounds to believe that the vehicle was not operated in violation of this subsection.
This subsection (3) does not apply to vehicles twenty-five or more years old or to passenger vehicles being operated off the highways in an organized racing or competitive event conducted by a recognized sanctioning body.

Showing our age here I suspect, but I agree. Stopped modifying my bikes years ago as it just gave zealous cops a reason to single you out for a tug. Now much prefer to get up to any hooliganism in “stealth mode”!
This may not be an issue Stateside, but there’s a fashion here for adopting mini number plates too on supposed ascetic grounds. Maybe, but the law specifies a set size for the letters and type of background so I stick to that. Again otherwise it’s just another reason to get pulled over.

I'm a firm believer in stealth mode. Last thing I want to do is call attention to myself. Besides I like quiet vehicles and a comfortable ride..

The sole reason I sold my beloved 955i after 20 years when my back could no longer take the racing crouch!

That had to be difficult to turn loose of. The main reason I started migrating from my BMW'S to scooters was the upright seating position and comfortable ride. As Stig refers to it (( rides like a Buick)).

It was at the time KK, but adapt or stop riding!
