Title: Battery tender?

  I have a 2021 X-Town 300i ABS. The question is whether I can keep the battery charged with the port in the front glovebox, or should I install another port and wire it directly to the battery? I did this on my '12 GTI300, but that didn't have a factory port. Living in Syracuse, NY, the scooter will be sitting in my heated garage for approximately 4 months without being ridden.

Are you saying you want to back feed 12v through the accessory port (which is an output port)?
That doesn't even sound right.
Wire up the battery tender pigtail and hang it out where it's accessible. Easy.

   I thought I would install a new accessory port and wire it direct to the battery (with a in-line fuse)  I did the same thing on my John Deere garden tractor. On the scooter it could also be used for a GPS, phone charger, or a auxiliary light source. My original question was whether the factory plug in the glove box could be used to charge the battery if the scooter is turned off and the key removed. Is it wired directly to the battery or does it activate with the ignition switch?

If it's like the DT 350, then the 12V socket only connects when the bike is on, making it useless for trickle charging. Best to wire a connector direct to the battery terminals.

To be 100% sure, check for power in the socket ( e.g. USB charger) when the bike is off.

Don't bother!  I have an XT300 and the USB port is dead unless the ignition is on!

Therefore I will install another accessory port, wire it direct to the battery, and utilize it for my battery tender. Thank you all for your input!
