Stopped at a bench while coming back home thru town.
Waiting....
Sun is just too low, and I have to ride too many city blocks straight east. Not safe. Can't read stop light colors, nor clearly observe side streets.
Just wish I had some coffee....

smart move, Stig. I was riding last night around 6:30 and had to ride one handed while using the other to block the brutal, low sun from my eyes...and this was on very lightly traveled roads...no stoplights or traffic. You made a good decision.

Ive been using a flip-up helmet in the up/open position all the time to function like the bill of a ballcap...still a little dangerous, but at least i can avoid getting blinded :D Plus the helmet has an internal tinted visor that flips down like big arse sunglasses.
Might be completely lost in the glare to others though...i take it back. That sh**es super dangerous.

That's the wonderful thing about being retired, I can wait it out or take the long way home going a different direction until the sun is higher in the sky.

My modulsr helmets have the flip down sun glass thing. No help at all when looking dead into the sun like an oncoming truck😊 this was an exceptional morning. Normally I stop and apply painter's tape along top of visor most rides home at sunrise. Sunglass thing just darkens the tree shadows even more....hiding a deer standing there.Prefer the tape. After 8 years of riding only at sunrise....I'm getting it sorted😊

Simple solution to incoming sun---3/4 helmet/duck bill visor (getting hard to find)---safe workable solution and of course safety/sun glasses!

Missed this post at the time Stig, but echo the comment about this being a good call on your part. Deserted country lanes are one thing, but City streets quite another!
I may have mentioned this on here before, but I had over six months of motorcycle commuting 50+ miles East in the morning and West in the evening... No avoiding low sun for at least a big chunk of it and when the sun hits you square in the eyes, it takes all the fun out of riding for sure.

Good call on stopping.
I wish some cagers would do that as well vs. weaving all over the road and running lights at sunset.

The windscreen on my R1100RT was so good that I didn't need a face shield for the wind so I wore a helmet with a snap-on visor for sun-set riding. I wish there was a face shield helmet with a visor...

My first helmet, a Bell open face.in the 60's, had a snap on visor. All white, thought I looked like Jim Clark
But, even that wouldn't have helped on this morning.

Well, no, not in my case.
When the sun is below low-hanging stop lights and practically on the pavement ahead ....it is time to park the scooter and have a coffee or a smoke. This thing does nothing more than my painter's tape is already doing.
The 'fix' is > park the scooter.

old school trick is use a length of black electrical tape along the upper part of your visor to create some sun block. I've been doing this for years. It's not a 100% but it helps when you have those moments of sun flicker on the country roads.

Yep, depending on how high the sun is - I regularly use blue painter's tape up there when heading home after a sunrise.
Keep a roll in each scooter.
The morning in question - left too soon, and had the sun under the stop lights, and practically on the pavement for too much of my route.
So, I parked.
I have a problem with fly-screen glare on my Paiggio - so on the very dark morning rides I'll put 2" of tape near the bottom edge of my visor so that I can see better into the dark when looking ahead. Works a treat.
