Title: PIAGGIO WINS IN COURT: PEUGEOT MOTOCYCLES CANNOT SELL THE METROPOLIS
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on September 21, 2021, 02:38:33 PM
This is dealing with the suit brought by Piaggio in protection of its patents with the Piaggio MP3, 3 wheel scooter.
Peugeot was selling a 3 wheel 'Metropolis'....and using technology protected by Piaggio patents.

Apparently Piaggio is also going after other manufacturers who are 'borrowing' some of the MP3 patented bits.

I saw a chinese knock-off 3 wheel scooter the other day in my coffee village.

I wonder how much of those bits are in the Kymco CV3?

In a pre-strike move I understand that Kymco has retained the legal services of Deu-Wee-Cheetum-And-Howe Inc., and filed in a Panamanian court.

Exciting stuff....

Tell me again, what's the point of a 3-wheel scooter?

Most of us here in the States couldn't anwer that nearly as well as the thousands in European cities who ride them every day.

Tried a couple of month ago a Piaggio 3-wheeler.
First impression was very steady, lots of power compared to my Grand Dink 150, but driving it during heavy traffic was then a different story. Have to say, drove only about 15 minutes and did not feel secure, particular in tight left turns. One might get used to in no time, but the price,  even for that used one, way too high. If I could get hands on a wrecked one, just to tinker, yes, but to ride it instead my scoot, no.

Ruffus I have never rode a 3 wheeler. It would defeat the purpose I purchase a scooter for,  light and maneuverability.  It's definitely a nich  market.

What I see a lot of where I'm at is Can Am Spider's.
