Title: Speedo error
Post by: gregspeople250 on October 28, 2010, 02:21:21 AM
Man, the speedo's on scoot's are well and truly optimistic.  I decided that I'd kill two birds with one stone and mount a digital speedo on my scoot'.  It's much easier to read than the stock one and is much more accurate.  The stock speedo is ~10% optimistic at any speed.  Now it all makes sense, a 250cc scooter's top speed is quite a bit slower than indicated.  The mileage is also off by ~10%.  Still great performance and I love the scoot'.  Now, about the brakes and soft suspension...

Cool, may I ask where you found that digital speedo?  ;D

Sure, I installed the TrailTech Vapor (trailtech.net) with speedo, tach, temp, along with ambient, time, total run time, etc.  It's $125.00 from treatland.tv or direct from TrailTech.  It's not the easiest thing to install because the wires are sooooo small, but it's my third Vapor and it works well.

Thanks, gregspeople250. Hey, that's a great gadget! Wow, you bought three of them? You must have a lot of scoots.

I rebuild mopeds as well.  I have a Honda Hobbit and Puch Maxi.  Both have the TrailTech vapor because it is a complete replacement for a dashboard and they work well.  I have a Honda Elite 80 that is great fun to ride on short jaunts.  All that I've added to it is a watch and ambient temperature gauge, both details that I really like while riding.
