Title: Kymco AK 550 - oil change

I did by first (600 mile) oil change yesterday and it went surprisingly well. The drainage bolts where nothing (of course). But getting to that oil filter without removing the plastic and the fact that the HULK screwed on the the filter. Well that was little more challenging. Having either a oil end cap/socket filter wrench (76 or 77) would have make the whole thing 100% easier and doable without sweating. I used a grip oil wrench which "worked" this time. But I wouldn't use it again.

Someone really figured how to be real stupid on that oil filter! I bet that plastic was a nightmare to remove. I could not watch the whole thing.

That oil filter looks as inaccessible as the old transverse engined minis of the '60's.  If Alec Issigonis went to Hell he will spending his days for the rest of eternity doing routine maintenance jobs on the Mini engine!

etc.

Wife's old Jetta was like that.
You could get your hand out from down there. Or the oil filter out from down there.
But not both.
I was born in Germany....but on oil change days I would deny it if questioned.

It's long been my firm view that ALL engine designers ought to be compelled to undertake routine maintenance of their design to demonstrate it can be done "in situ"  ::)
