A couple of years ago I thought it would be fun to get together with some of the scooter enthusiasts that I had come to "know" online and ride the great roads in the North Carolina mountains. I also noticed that the weather in Maggie Valley was always a lot cooler than almost anyplace else with highs from the low 70s to low 80s in July and August. So I set up an event and I think we had 11 people show up. It was so much fun that I did it again the next year. Despite COVID we had around 30 show up this time. This year was the third year for this event and it turned out to be a fantastic time with a total of 29 people participating.

The event went from Sunday through Friday with Sunday and Friday mostly being travel days. One guy really wanted to come but couldn't get out of work. He still wanted to meet us so he rode over 300 miles to Maggie Valley on Sunday. He hung out for a while and then did a short ride with us before heading mack home. He ended up riding 712 miles that day!!
This guy was riding a Honda Silverwing which was the largest scooter at the event.

hey Klav, great pics! Like the looks of that Tapoco Tavern and Lodge.
What do you guess was the average age of those attending the scooter gathering?
i'm realizing that scooters seem to be for the very young...or the not so young...missing a whole group in between.

This was not like your typical scooter rally. Most of the riders who attended were very experienced riders. Most of the riders were probably in their 60s with some younger than that and some in their 70s. I don't think we had anyone under 40.

That would be great! I'm planning on doing this again next year. Once I set the dates I'll post them. It will be in July or August, probably August again.

My ride report thread has over 441,000 views, 257 pages and 5,134 replies. A lot of those replies and views came from people who where on some of the rides in the thread. Many of the people who participate in my threads are more than just internet strangers. I may have met them through the internet but now they are friends who I have met in person and ridden with.

You did miss this year's event but there is another scooter event organized on Modern Vespa in a couple of weeks in Maggie Valley. Maggie Valley is an awesome place to ride out of.

I think they are staying at the Creekside Lodge.
