Title: took a ride down to the southern states store
Post by: pedro on October 24, 2010, 07:05:30 PM
...and saw my first kymco since I bought my people.  I'm surprised at how much taller everything is on the agility 50 vs my people 50 2t.  Today was my furthest ride to date.  About 40 miles round trip.  It felt really good to get out and enjoy the fall colors on two wheels.  What a difference I tell ya!   :o

That's great, pedro! I was just thinking that yesterday and today have both been perfect weather for enjoying the fall scenery on a long ride like that!

I was trying to see how much lower the seat sits on that people. Looks like it's might be on the side stand. Could be a couple inches lower. The handlebars sure look a lot lower, though, in that pic from of the back view!

I found me a pair of boots for $3.50 from a local Goodwill store to test how high of a platform I will need. They add a few inches at the back of my foot (I want it taller all the across) and it still seems I might need an extra inch to feel real comfortable on the agility.  :D

So which one you like better?

The agility was up on it's center stand, however the rear tire was still sitting on the ground.   ???

Rianna,

You might fit more comfortably on a people.  I would say the seat is a good 1-2 inches lower than on the agility.

With heels that big, you need to get the shoes that have the goldfish in the heel!

Man, haven't seen anything like that since I saw Kiss in concert 20 years ago!

Pedro, I've got the same as you-black/ brown seat. Love that color scheme. In the spring, I'm having a malossi 71cc kit put on it.

Fall colors still nice on coast of lake michigan. And 70 degrees today! Nice cruising on a curvy road following lake MI. When the leaves start to drop you have awesome sights of lake, and unbelievable mega mansions...

I have never seen this. How would you feed them? LOL! Kiss concert? They had some awesome black costumes, didn't they?  :D

1-2 inches...Dang...I might be too short for the people too, pedro!  :-[

And my rear tire is on the ground when it's on the center stand, too.

nice biker girl boots!!

Thanks, tom. I'm not too comfortable in them, though. They make me feel like I'm walking on my tip toes. I'd prefer something that's flat all the way across when I'm riding the scoot. It was worth the $3.50 just to find a good size. Those Demonia and New Rock boots with the tall platforms cost anywhere from $80 to a couple hundred dollars!!

Just google the term platform shoes with goldfish and you'll see a variety of them.

Don't know how you feed the fish - I kind of assumed they were not live fish but can't say I looked into it.

One can only hope.

Then again, those shoes were associated with the disco era so anything is possible.

I dunno...

Maybe Blue is out there modding up some shoes with piranhas in the heel.

Sheesh, I seem to remember some performer started all that by having real goldfish in their heels.  Anyone remember who?

I do remember Mason Williams performing his hit, Classical Gas, with live goldfish in a clear acrylic guitar.

Dang!  They really did use live goldfish.

And I thought the hair was the real horror of the 70s!

Footwear

The platform shoe is an icon of 1970s disco fashion. Taking the wearer to dizzying heights, the exaggerated sole of the '70s platform shoe could add several inches to the overall height of the disco enthusiast who sported them. The disco goldfish shoe was an interesting, if extreme, example of novelty footwear. The large heel and sole of the shoe was made of a clear acrylic material. A hollow heel served as an impromptu goldfish bowl for the unlucky fish that was forced to stomp the night away along with its dancing owners. Many questioned whether or not it was humane to subject a living fish to this kind of treatment, and the goldfish shoe eventually fell out of favor.

Nice doghouse!  Oh, and the helmet too.

Actually, I'm thinking of moving up to a full-face helmet as well.

Just kills me that it won't fit under the seat like my open-face helmet.  I hate the thought of having to carry it on the subway every day.

Full face is the only way to go for me.  I don't mind not being able to fit it inside the met-in box.  Sometimes I use the helmet hook, most of the time I just carry it with me.

..i'd wear nothing but a full-face...

Doesn't the full face fog up in winter?

I have a hard enough time with the sunglasses and an open face helmet.

..a good anti-fog coated shield will last well into the winter, with just warm water cleaning...

..once it startes to fail a bit, clean it thoroughly with some windex or such...good strong stuff, then apply rainx, like the instructions say...3 or 4 times over....

..i generally replace my shield with a good one at the beginning of cold weather..

..gonna need a new helmet this time...

..i had two, but i kinda...lost.. one of them..my newest one...

Probably would be much more comfortable to have a full face helmet for riding in that cold weather.

That's a cold breeze on your face riding at 35mph during the winter.

How did you lose a helmet?

All that cold air is good for you.  Bracing in fact.

And good for the skin - another few years and I'll have a face like an old saddle bag.

How did you lose a helmet?

...yeah...

..well, i was riding my 01 people home from work, the day it crapped out...

..called a bud to come pick me up, which he did...

..i had laid my helmet down in the grass beside his truck..a small latter '80s toyota...when we loaded my scoot...

..strapped it in real good, hopped in the truck and sped of toward home...

..leaving my helmet behind in the weeds...
