Nolan uses a Microlock quick release chin strap mechanism.
While it comes factory set at a "standard length" - it can be adjusted.
I needed to make the male end of the strap longer, as I was buckling it on nearly the tip.
It's a bit of a fooler - the strap on the male end is not a 'loop' --- but rather like a belt, fastened only on one end. (the loose end is so well tucked into the padding it is not apparently free)
Using needle nose pliers to manipulate the tight strap running through the silver buckle - I moved the strap through the buckle so that this little buckle moved away from the strap end, towards where one end is riveted to the helmet.
This lengthened the strap on the male end of the system. Now I'm clicking well into the male end.
Nolan sells a small metal "T" to use through the RED buckle for locking the helmet to the bike.
The only benefit I've found with this system is that it is easy to fasten and unfasten in the winter while wearing heavy heated gloves. (though, why you'd be removing your helmet on a frigid day is a puzzle!)
A possible down-side would be that arriving EMS personnel may not know how to release the buckle. You must lift the RED lever and slide off the buckle.

Oh man, I really like the quick release on my helmet. Lots quicker/easier than threading the strap through the two little D rings, IMO.
Biggest downside I see is that the little plastic piece with teeth can break, rendering it impossible to fasten helmet. Don't know how common it is, but I am sure it does happen.
