Anyone else out there enjoy this aspect of scootering? I’m considering a 300 mile round trip soon up to Yorkshire and whilst it’s a straightforward motorway (freeway/interstate) journey by car, I fancy taking the XxTown and so 130+ mile of straight roads does not appeal.
So, it’s out with the maps and with time no issue, which picturesque areas can I pass through on the highways and byways? I used to spend days mapping out 1,000 mile days trips to Europe and back, now it’s more modest distances, but no reason not to enjoy the process and the ride.
If / when it all comes together, I’ll be sure to stop and take photos!

Heck yes, especially the Romeo rides. I go on Google maps and pick a route that avoids the interstate. Sometimes it takes a considerably longer time to reach my destination.

We have a old expression as well, Taking the senic route. Another expression I like is , It's not the destination it's the journey, Ralph Waldo Emerson.

For me the good roads generally are the destination. I have had people following me on a ride with GPS who recorded the track of our route. My routes typically look like something a 2 year old with a crayon would draw.

With you on that Klav, my aim is usually to string together the twistiest roads in any given area keeping away from the busy arterial routes. Usually gives me a thoroughly enjoyable ride out!

After 67 years of doing this, over 1.5 million 2 wheel miles, 15-20 countries--- I just have destination in mind, no planning....I have no GPS, but think current maps are important. Be flexible, old I like to sleep on motels/hotels but am prepared to sleep outdoors. Aerostich one piece very comfortable to sleep in on ground---did so most of the time on trip to North Cap in Norway. Maybe last long trip for me, Hyder AK again---stop for beer and hamburger....if the bar is still open. Ride thru Western Canada I just go, flexible again.....hoping for good luck with gas and food.

Hey John, did you sell your XT300 yet? If so have you narrowed down your choice for a smaller displacement scoot?

after over 400,000 miles with rubber band drive scooter...no more of them for me. 25-30 replacement belts ---all oem---only one ground up underway---Helix....and they could be changed without removing front pulley----used Kymco scooter selling slowly, scooter market dead in N America-----looking at Honda Cub 125---had Honda C-70(too slow), CS-90 ( Japan with chaincase), C-90 Okinawa, never broke but rusted.-----for me more dealers if I need one, hoping for Japan produced bike---and will check VIN before I buy---2022 models, new engine, 4 valve.

Can’t go far wrong with a Super Cub John, good luck with your quest! Also with selling the Kymco. Keep us all posted.
