Title: NSR: anyone remember Friendly's ice cream shops?

Family owned (from East Longmeadow, Mass.) restaurants, which spread as far as Ohio at one time.
. Sold 'fribbles', or some darn thing - which was their milkshake. Hamburgers came on toast, not buns. Made milkshakes with scooped icecream and milk!
Out of business around here, years ago.
New Englander's --- do you remember them?

Never heard of that one but do remember the defunct  Peter Pan ice cream stores.

There used to be one over by 71 and Bagley road in Middleburg HTS across from Perkins and olive garden. It wasn't bad but it was great, so I can see why they didn't make it.

Then location site was bulldozed within a year. Three months after that the grass grew in it's like it was never there.

Lived in Maine for 10 years back in the late 70's and 80's.  Friendly's were all over the place, along with a local chain called Deering's.  There are still quite a few Friendly's around, the closest to Ohio is Olean ,NY.  They are still in New England, mostly.  Friendly's was almost interchangeable with Perkin's, except their ice cream products were better than Perkin's, and Perkin's bakery was better than Friendly's.  But in Maine, Deering's was much better, especially the ice cream, shakes, sundaes, etc.
