Title: Trip to UP Mich
Post by: john grinsel on May 30, 2021, 05:12:55 PM
Took a trip to UP Mich this week---not bike as I am at least semi -retired from riding at 82----Took new Chevy Spark, stick shift, crank windows and real Key!  At 3200 miles on clock, gas mileage computer reads 47 MPG!

Observations:  Gas no problem/eating in America sucks, McDonalds not even open in lobby.  Food in higher priced places gives me the squirts.

Pavement conditions/terrible, third world in some places.

Saw no scooters/no sidecar outfits/some Trikes fat rider/passenger same....cup holders and trailers,too/  Lots of Harleys, a few BMW, Goldwing thing seems to be done saw only one/four electric cars, but no charging stations!

Temps 33F to 93 F, one morning in Mich 33 ice on windshield.  Car heater/AC work find, radio, too

Rain 3- of the 6 days.  Harley riders in cheap rainsuits flapping in the breeze....but at least they are out there riding.

Mptels---took what I could find, one clean Motel 6, American run, UP stayed on Mom and Pop place I have used before=fine.

Traffic and construction=terrible.   One back up in Detriot, I waited 2 hours....on bike would have just gone around.

I have made this trip many times before on bike or scooter---Macinac Bridge mesh nice in car, horrible on bike.

John your observation about the weather there is spot on. Especially when you're planning a long weekend, you have to be ready for anything. Especially when camping!

Did you ever get your 300 sold and get a smaller scoter?
