Artist Sean Wotherspoon hired by Vespa.
I like it.....but would expect to get a lot of grief riding it around :)

(*) I imagine there might be some buyer's remorse looming for not spending a bit more $ to bring home the 150 instead (apparently there was no license restriction involved in the choice of the 50)

You remember when VW did similar scheme on Rabbit?
-
Yes, as CROSSBOLT states, nearly any vehicle company tried once to attract a certain clientele.
I, as a customer would not BUY such a piece of "art", but its for sure an interesting project, if you have money and a big garage to keep all your pets clean and dry stored away. Don't think that owner dares to take it out for a ride. Except on a trailer for a show.
For ME, the "hands-on" and practipility, is what counts.

Yeah, the Harlequin. Supposedly a computer selected the mix of colored panels. I owned only VWs in those days....and wanted one of the Harlequins!

In US, where is your dealer?
-
I can see the scene at the Vespa factory...
"Hey Joe we don't have enough body panels of the same color to finish this scoot."
"Just use whatever color we have and we will call it a "Special Edition" and charge an extra $1000 for it."
"Genius."

It reminds me of the Benetton F1 car liveries.

Yes! I wanted one of their multi-colored steering wheels or my Jetta!

I bought a scooter in 2004, don't even remember the brand of Chinese knock off. It was blue, red and yellow 150cc scooter, definitely colorful. It had a couple of interesting features, a keyless remote start and a alarm system. I took it out to Ouray Colorado and used it for transportation around town. It was kind of fun to have a group of people on the sidewalk and hit the remote start to some surprised looks. The other feature lead me to dump the scooter along with the over-colorful paint scheme, the alarm system. When you went to haul the scooter in the back of the truck you had to dig out the battery and disconnect it, otherwise the alarm system would go off continuously as you drove down the road.
I don't tend to gravitate towards bright colors although Orange (250 Xicting ) has grown on me. Honda has some nice color combinations .

Reminds me of that song by Johnny Cash titled "One Piece at a Time."

I heard guys in Vietnam claim they'd mailed an Army Jeep home, one piece at a time.
The only thing I swiped & brought home were my two pair of bandage scissors. These days TSA would have impounded them.....
You have 90 days to reclaim your civilian job if you were inducted - walking back into the hospital in Mass, in February - skinny, with a deep, deep tan & short hair was .....pretty awkward, in those times*.
Stig
* oh yeah - hosp personnel dept. let me know, when I phoned them, that there actually was not a position "open" for me.
I replied, "see you Monday." :) (your seniority is uninterrupted, & with earned pay raises - as though you hadn't left)

I like the bold graphics on the scooter.

That's a hard pass for me. Looks like someone couldn't hold down some kind of exotic meal.

A little bit of branding has to be done...

Judging by the color - that's a pasta sauce?
Stig

Not exactely that, but you're very close....🤣
-
Nope
I'm not seeing the aesthetic here, just looks like a mess and the artist is taking credit for what's already there just mixing it up?
Although I'm not on board with the flat black/no chrome thing as well, I think this is just done to generate buzz.
Stig, I'm glad you were able to come back to work after service. Why they would give you a hassle is beyond my understanding.

Vespas are a nice machine - but totally useless for getting anything done.

Finally figured it out, theft prevention. Who would steal that?

Actually, in these parts I'd likely get a lot of 👍👍👍& 👌 👌👏👏 from all the similarly multipaneled Hondas and old Chevy's. Walt's autowrecking supplies doors, fenders and hoods for a lot of 'designer' rides in this area.
I'd fit right in.

Stig that's exactly what it looks like, a scooter put together with salvage parts.
