The new guy here. From Birch Bay WA. Just got a 2021 Kymco Super 8, 150 2 weeks ago. Am still in the 40 MPH break in period. I am concerned about the run times when the scoot is broken in. I hear that it is not good on the engine to run high speeds for extended time on this little single cylinder engine. I also own a Lambretta uno-150 That will jump to 60MPH pronto. I plan a trip with my new super 8 150 after break in. Figuring that 50 MPH should be a reasonable speed that won't hurt the motor. Not having a tach I have no idea of the revs @50 MPH on the Super 8. Or that 50 MPH is too tough on this scoot?

Once broken in, 50mph should be fine for the 150. I was once told that holding a motor steady at any one speed during break in is not good for it. Better to vary the speed & revs without straining it?
No doubt the more mechanically minded on here will correct me if that’s an old wives’ tale?

Might be old news.....but that break-in info is still printed in many owner's manuals
My thinking is that it might be there for a reason. Perhaps the people who make the engine know at least as much as "old motorheads:..
And, yes, I would think that running a broken in 150 at 50mph between fuel stops should be OK.
At that speed - you're probably at 85-90% max/healthy RPM's.

I would agree that during break-in you do not want to run full throttle for extended periods. Best to vary speed (rpm) and throttle.
Once broken in? Let 'er rip! Most scooters spend much of their lives wide open throttle. Think about every 50 cc scoot ever made...full throttle all day, every day with max rpm. These are tough little motors. (once broken in) open it up and have run.

New scooter=warranty. Broken In/Run In it should be able to stand wide open for ever---3/4 throttle is usually just as fast. Blows up, warranty pays---Kymco, my experience, pretty reliable when purchased new!
