Title: Well, here she is!
Post by: pa-outdoorsman on March 29, 2021, 03:03:33 PM
All right guys, giving you this post BECAUSE YOU ASKED FOR IT! Again, not a Kymco, so my apologies to anyone who feels baited and switched here, but lots of the guys on this forum say without Honda, there never would have been Kymco. So, without further ado, here are some pics of my new 2021 Honda ADV 150. Picked her up Friday from a dealer in Massachusetts and trailered her home to Pennsylvania on Saturday. Got home in enough time on Saturday to enjoy a couple hours out and about getting a feel for her. Put on about 25 miles and enjoyed getting to know the machine a bit. FWIW, my first impressions are very good. A very smooth machine will good power and nimble handling. Acceleration is good off the line, a bit weak from say 20-35 mph but she really pulls like a horse from 35-55. Had it up to 61 -- briefly -- and let off the throttle at that point because the front end started to feel a bit lighter to me. That's probably normal for two-wheeled vehicles, but being my first time out, I did not feel the need to push it. Besides, I don't want to push the engine too much until I get through the 300-mile break-in period.

Photos below show a few pics from my first ride. Oh, and BTW, I purchased the bike sight unseen over the phone. Dealer mailed me documents to sign and send back and when I showed up to get it, they had the bike all ready to go and a nice little folder with all my paperwork. Very smooth process.

Congratulations on the new Honda, even though it's not a Kymco  ;D.

Quit standing in front of a new Honda! (you ain't Matt Damon!)

You own the Mercedes of bikes as far as I'm concerned - congrats!
If you've ridden other scooters - how does this extra suspension travel impress in comparison? Hype , or a real difference?

Enjoy....

Geez Stig, I'll at least claim I am better looking than you, because you NEVER show your face. Guess you don't want anyone to pick you out of a lineup! LOL

This is my first scooter, so I really can't say how the suspension measures up to the competition. I know it has significantly more travel vs. the PCX, but can't tell you how that translates in the real world. Even without having anything to compare it to, I will tell you I thought was VERY SMOOTH during my initial ride. Again, nothing to compare it to, but it glided over the bumps in the road with very little disruption to my hands or rear end!

And, for Stig's benefit, I'll close with another selfie right after I loaded the bike up on the trailer at the dealership....

Oh, and here's an interesting factoid about my machine. So, the original owner up in MA purchased it last August and traded it in November with 148 miles on it. Know what the dealer told me he traded it on? AN ELECTRIC BICYCLE. I kid you not.

The original owner lives on Cape Cod, so IDK if he bought to go back and forth to the beach or what, but for whatever reason he obviously decided that he was better served by an ebike than this scooter for whatever he intended to do with it. Oh well; his loss was my gain.

It's a scooter. But kind of looks like a motorcycle if you don't study it because it doesn't have the typical step-through scooter design. More like the maxi scoots in that regard I guess.

Yeah, an electric bike! They're neat but can't imagine trading in this scooter for one...

Especially the Piaggio electric bicycle,  $3000.  Wichita dealer had two of them on the sales floor.

Yes they can definitely be pricey. The dealer where I purchased specializes in motorcycles and electric bikes. I guess it's a booming business. In there area (Cape Cod) I can definitely see the allure as a traffic beating and convenient beach transportation.

Looks a treat and I suspect it’ll be a while before you can get that grin off your face!  Enjoy it and don’t worry about it not being a Kymco, it’s a scooter and that’s all that matters.

Congrats on the new scooter.  I have read a lot of good things about the ADV150 on other forums.  If I was looking for a small scooter right now it would be at the top of my list.

Thanks all for the kind words! After a day of heavy rain and then a day of cold and wind, it's another gorgeous day here in Pennsylvania. So, I'm looking forward to riding again. Going to make my maiden voyage to the gym on the scoot, and then later this afternoon, I'm going to go to my boys' high school track meet on it.

I'll keep you all posted on my experiences from time to time, and thanks again for indulging a "non-Kymco" machine on your forum.

You never know, the motor or other parts could still be built by Kymco. I know the 650 Rotax in my BMW GS is built by Kymco.
