This question is addressed to those Kymco riders with machines which have an ambient temperature display. I've noticed that the temperature display on my X-Town 300i is (fortunately consistently) 2 degrees C optimistic when it comes to the temperatures displayed. This is not too big an issue, I just wondered if it's peculiar to my scooter or if others have noticed this?

I tried years back to rig an OAT (Outside Air Temp) gage and gave up because of wild variations, always upwards, indications. Concluded that sensor location must be remote of display and sensor location must be established with testing to minimize error. °C bigger than °F but only 2°C is pretty good! Car OAT gages are really good! If the car guys can do it right then we should be able to do it better!

Karl is right about the location being very important. I had a car back in the 80's with an outside temp reading that was only accurate while on the move. At a stop the engine heat would make the outside temp reading rise by 20 or 30 degrees!

My thoughts exactly Karl. The wife's 14 year-old Range Rover delivers a temperature display which is spot on, always! Surely we can do the same now on a 2019 X-Town?!

The only time we tend to see this Hawk, is when the wife's car has sat for hours in the sun. So not very often in the UK! ;)
