Title: Carb rejet?
Post by: brianmckewen on February 28, 2021, 09:14:20 PM
Putting a new OEM carb on my 200s. Should I leave the jets alone? I know on some bikes they come from the factory jetted too lean for emissions. Don't plan on any major upgrades at all in the future. Just want it to run well. Thanks for any input. Brian.

I've always understood it that factory jetting is usually pretty good until you start making mods to your intake and exhaust. With everything else factory, the factory jets should be good(?)

I suppose you could try it with the factory jets (mine has 116 main and 35 pilot)...I know the pilot is the factory jet size but not positive if the main was ever touched or not. If you're not happy with performance you can make changes.

Carb tuning is a dark art that I don't want to get too involved in! From idle air control screw settings, jet sizes, adjusting the main needle up or down...I'm a happy camper if the factory settings just work.

Thanks Iahawk. As soon as the rain lets up I will see how it runs. Right now idle seems fine. I just plan on taking it around town and back roads. Fun bikes they are. My neighbor had one and it was fun. Brian.
