Ok, so my 87 octane post stirred up some interesting stuff. Now to start anew. I'm using klotz syntehetic oil. it's a bit pricey at 11.00 qt, but the way I see it, I'm getting about a 1000k mileage per qt. And, silly as it may be, I love the scent of that oil as it burns. As it says on the back of the bottle, "classic racy scent" or something to that effect.
is this a little overkill, or will cheaper synthetics do as well?
-
I use amsoil interceptor because that is the oil they recommend for injector systems . Also I have read that it is important to always use the same oil and the amsoil is easily available in my area . I use synthetic for many reasons including less carbon buildup and less smell because of the higher burn temps . Good luck .

thanks juice. Yeah, I've heard that also about sticking with the same oil consistently, but not sure why that is. I will have to google amsoil.
-
juice, who's the "they" that recommend interceptor oil? just wanted to read about that, too.
-
just thinking/ brain farting here- but could it be once you have air screw/mix screw set properly, adding a different oil can affect the carb performance somehow? I just can't think how changing oil brands could be detrimental, unless you change to some really crap oil.

The amsoil site has a graph type chart that shows all sorts of applications from marine , cold temps (snowmobiles) , yard equipment etc . Like you said google amsoil and you will find it . Good luck .

classic racy scent
if they come up with a classic burger and fries scent then you'd really have something...
-
I hope this link works www.amsoil.com/storefront/ait.aspx (http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ait.aspx) . The 2-cycle chart link is near the bottom of the column on the right side of the page .

yep, got that one also when I googled it juice.
OS- oh yeah, combine the oil scent with a cheap greasy burger and fries and it would be like being at the local 1/2 mi race car track on a summer Saturday night. I'm just gonna convert this ppl 50 to run on fryer grease!!
