I purchased a hand vacuum pump from Harbor Freight that has a rezervoir for the old brake fliud. The kit comes with a short hose that will fit on the bleed valve. It helps if you have another person to fill the brake cylinder as you suck the old fluid out (you don't want to suck air into the system).  They have a electric model as well for more money but the hand pump works just fine.   Dot 4 or Dot 3 will just fine . Dot 4 has a higher boiling point and more money.

Make darn sure if you get ANY brake fluid on a painted surface you clean it off immediately or it will damage the paint.

if you're just looking for hose size it is a 3/16 diameter interior measurement. Vinyl tubing works great but doesn't hold up for long against brake fluid but is cheap and easily replaceable. You always want a very tight connection between bleeding hose and brake bleeder.
